HomeMy WebLinkAbout7/7/1999 - STAFF REPORTS (27) DATE: July 7, 1999 TO: City Council FROM: Procurement Manager and Director, Department of Facilities APPROVE DEDUCTIVE CHANGE TO SCOPE OF WORK FOR PALM TREE TRIMMING RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council approve a deductive change to the scope of work awarded pursuant to IFB 00-01 for Palm Tree Trimming totaling $4,128.00 to delete work authorized by Purchase Order in order to meet the Palm Canyon Drive construction schedule. BACKGROUND: Bid#IFB00-01 for palm tree trimming included removal of seed pods only from approximately 1,850 trees, and both seed pods and fronds from approximately 1, 242 trees. Due to construction scheduled to commence July 26"on Palm Canyon Drive, 258 palm trees included in the Scope of Work in the bid, need to be trimmed prior to July 23rd. In order to meet this deadline, staff authorized the low bidder, Desert View Tree Service, to trim 258 palm trees on Palm Canyon Drive at the same unit prices in an amount of $4,128.00. The Purchase Order stipulates this work must be completed prior to July 23, 1999. The amount of the Purchase Order issued is less than the amount($5,000) requiring City Council approval for this type of service. Funds are available for the work to be performed in the following account, 001-2451-43240, Parks Maintenance- Other contract Services Account. APPROVE A DEDUCTIVE CHANGE TO THE SCOPE OF WORK AWARDED PURSUANT TO IFB 00-01 FOR PALM TREE TRIMMING TOTALING $4,128.00 TO REMOVE TRIMMING WORK AUTHORIZED BY STAFF IN ORDER TO MEET THE PALM CANYON DRIVE CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE. I HEREBY CERTIFY that this Minute Order approving a deductive change to the scope of work awarded pursuant to IFB 00-01 for palm tree trimming totaling $4,128.00 to remove trimming work authorized by staff in order to meet the Palm Canyon Drive construction schedule, was approved by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs California in a meeting thereof held on the 7th day of July, 1999.
