BACKGROUND:
The Fire Department currently utilizes Hurst brand hydraulic rescue equipment, commonly referred to as

utilized by the City's mutual aid providers.
L.N. Curtis and Sons is the only company authorized by the manufacturer(Hurst)to sell this equipmentin
the State of California. It is therefore requested that the City Council authorize the purchase on a sole-source
basis of 2 Hurst power units,2 Hurst cutter/spreader units,2 Hurst rams and 3 sets of rescue plates from L.N.
Custis at a total cost of$24,809.44.
