LEE WEIGEL, CHIEF OF POLICE AUTHORIZING A BUDGET AMENDMENT APPROPRIATING $60,000 FROM FUND BALANCE TO CONSTRUCT PALM SPRINGS NARCOTICS TASK FORCE OFFICES DOWNSTAIRS AT PALM SPRINGS POLICE DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council authorize a budget amendment appropriating $60,000 to construct Palm Springs Narcotics Task Force offices downstairs at Palm Springs Police Department. BACKGROUND: This matter was brought before City Council and previously discussed in the budget session on October 27, 1999 and again on January 26, 2000. The Palm Springs Police Department initiated the Palm Springs Narcotics Task Force in January, 1999. The only office space available was that which housed a maximum of four investigators. The task force has grown with cooperation from County, State and Federal allied agencies and expansion is needed to house the additional personnel. The total cost of this project is estimated to be $137,500 however $77,500 has been received from the Coachella Valley Narcotics Task Force as contribution toward the project. Therefore only $60,000 is needed to complete this project. C. If e Weigel Chief of Police APPROVED 64 City Manager Attachments: 1. Budget Resolution RESOLUTION NO. 19747 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE 1999-00 FISCAL YEAR. WHEREAS Resolution 19541, approving the budget for the fiscal year 1999-00 was adopted on June 16, 1999; and WHEREAS the City Manager has recommended, and the City Council desires to approve, certain amendments to said budget; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Director of Finance is authorized to record inter-fund cash transfers as required in accordance with this Resolution, and that Resolution 19541, adopting the budget for the 1999-00 fiscal year is hereby amended as follows: SECTION 1. ADDITIONS FUND Activity Account Amount No. 261 3200 52000 $ 60,000 Title: Police Department Capital Projects Police Improvements Capital Improvemen s Purpose: To provide funding for Narcotics Task Force project. SECTION 2 .
