HomeMy WebLinkAbout2/16/2000 - STAFF REPORTS (11) DATE: February 16,2000 TO: City Council FROM: Fleet Operations Supervisor via Procurement Manager REPLACEMENT OF TWO PARKING CONTROL UNITS THROUGH A COOPERATIVE PURCHASE WITH THE CITY OF DALY CITY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that City Council approve through a Cooperative Purchase with the City of Daly City,two (2)Go-4 parking control units from Municipal Maintenance Equipment, in Anaheim CA, in the amount of $44,782.86. BACKGROUND: Both units requested are to replace existing units(GO-4s)that are at the end of there useful life cycle. Fleet Operation Staff has evaluated other,alternative fuel vehicles that could be used for this operation.No other vehicles have been found that are suitable for the unique operation that these vehicles are used for.As part of the job,parking control personal need to be able to mark tires both from the left&right side of the vehicle. A three wheel motorcycle is the only vehicle that this task can be accomplished with. A GO-4 is the only enclosed vehicle that meets that need at this time. Funding is available in the Appropriated Motor Vehicle Replacement budget in the following account: Specialized Equipment Account No.510-5475-50015. The Procurement Manager,pursuant to the requirements of the Municipal Code Section 3.12,270.6 finds that the competitive bid process conducted by the City of Daly City,Purchase Order No.7603, for the proposed purchase is adequate to protect the public interest and the proposed cost of the vehicles is likely to be less through the proposed cooperative purchase than could be attained through the City's independent purchasing process.A copy of the City of Daly City P.O. is on file at the City Clerk's office.
