SYSTEM SUPPORT FOR AT&T TELEPHONE SWITCHES AND VOTCE-MAIL SYSTEM
RECOMMENDATION:
That City Council approve purchase of maintenance support for two (2)AT&T telephone
switches and the Audix voice-mail system from Avaya Communications, formerly Lucent
Technologies, Inc., of Oklahoma City, OK, for an additional one-year period (FY
2000/2001) in the amount of$21,725.
BACKGROUND:
The City's Information Technology Department administers the AT&T Definity G3i
telephone systems and Audix voice-mail system that supports City Hall, the Police
Department, Fire Station 2 and the City Yard.
The telephone system was purchased in 1994, and the agreement included a one-year
warranty, followed by a five-year maintenance contract, which has just ended.
Staff recommends the purchase of maintenance support from Avaya Communications, a
sole source service provider to our area, in order to maintain the system hardware and
software of the telephone systems.
The maintenance support allows for timely response to system software and hardware
failures and to replace failed components. It provides phone-in administration support for
assistance in determining telephoner system problems, or for administering telephone
system features.
Funds have been budgeted for this purpose, and are available using account 001-1120-
43200 Information Services Contractual Services.
