HomeMy WebLinkAbout7/19/2000 - STAFF REPORTS (21) DATE: July 19, 2000 TO: City Council FROM: Communications Technician via Director of Information Technology APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) TRINITY VIDEO PRODUCTION SYSTEM FROM CONSOLIDATED MEDIA SYSTEMS RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the purchase of one (1) Trinity Video Production System, from Consolidated Media Systems, San Diego, California, fora total cost of$17,190.85, including tax. BACKGROUND: The Trinity Video Production System addresses several needs of PSC TV. It replaces the current inadequate and failing graphics computer which is used to display on screen the meeting title, names of staff and Board, Commission or City Council members, date of meeting and other important information. Trinity has more input sources available so that all cameras are available all of the time. Currently whenever we have a Power Point or Video Tape playback presentation, we must loose one of the cameras in order to get the video feed onto the switcher so it can be seen on the air. The need for still photos to be available at will has become increasingly important, especially during Planning and Public Art Commission meetings where numerous displays, diagrams and photos are routinely used. Trinity can store hundreds of stills with a recall time of% second. An Invitation for Bid was advertised in the Desert Sun on July 8, 2000 with a closing date of July 19, 2000, at 11:30 A.M. The Invitation for Bid was mailed to nine authorized dealers of Trinity Systems in Southern California. There are no authorized dealers for this equipment in the Coachella Valley. By the closing date and time seven (7) bids were received as follows: VENDOR AMOUNT BID (Incl.
