Home My WebLink About7/19/2000 - STAFF REPORTS (12) ,, DATE: July 19, 2000 TO: City Council FROM: City Engineer and Redevelopment Director ALANO CLUB PARKING LOT IMPROVEMENTS RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council award a HUD Community Development Block Grant contract to Contreras Construction Co., in the amount of$39,099.00 for the Alano Club Parking Lot Improvements, Schedules A& B, City Project No. 99-01. BACKGROUND: In 1997, the first phase of parking lot improvements for the Alano Club, 463 Dominguez Road, was completed under a Community Development Block Grant funded contract. The first phase included a trash enclosure, block wall and parking lot lighting. The 1998/99 budget included HUD Community Development Block Grant funding for the second phase of parking lot improvements, including curb, gutter, sidewalk, pavement and stucco of the previously constructed wall and trash enclosure. The block grant program is administered by the Community Redevelopment Department, and the work is being done at the request of the Alano Club. The plans and specifications were prepared by the Engineering Department. Schedule A consists of all parking lot improvements and Schedule B includes the stucco work. The project was advertised for bids on April 22 and 29, 2000. At 2:00 p.m. on May 23, 2000, the Procurement Division received bids from the following contractors: Schedule A Schedule B Total: 1.
