APPROVAL OF CONTRACT SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH ENGINEERING
RESOURCES OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, INC. FOR E. PALM CANYON/GENE
AUTRY TRAIL WIDENING
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council approve a Contract Services Agreement with Engineering
Resources of Southern California, Inc., for construction staking services for the
E. Palm Canyon/Gene Autry Trail Widening, for an amount not to exceed
$11205.00, City Project No. 92-36.
BACKGROUND:
On August 2, 1995, the City Council approved a joint MOU agreement with
Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC)for the design and
construction of the street widening of the East Palm Canyon/Gene Autry Trail
Intersection. This is the City's second, and final, Highway 111 Corridor Project,
and Is funded by Regional Measure A funds. RCTC has approved funding
74% of the project cost in fiscal year 2000/01. The remaining 26%will be
funded from local Measure A funds.
RCTC hired NBS/Lowry Consulting Engineers to perform the design services for
this project. Final plans and specifications were completed in 1998.
Construction bids were opened May 2, 2000, and an award made to E.L.
Yeager Construction Co., Inc, by City Council at its May 17, 2000, meeting.
Staff solicited and received proposals for construction staking services from the
following firms: Engineering Resources of Southern California, Inc., $11,206.00;
McGee Surveying, $16,500.00; and Robert Bein, William Frost and Associates,
$16,100.00.
Staff recommends that City Council approve a Contract Services Agreement
with Engineering Resources of Southern California, Inc., in an amount not to
exceed $11,205.00. Funds are available in account number 134-449750174
(Gene Autry/Hwy 111 Widening).

CONTRACT SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR
CONSTRUCTION STAKING for
EAST PALM CANYON/GENE AUTRY TRAIL WIDENING
City Project No. 92-36
THIS CONTRACT SERVICES AGREEMENT (herein "Agreement") is made and entered into
this_day of _ 2000, by and between the CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, a municipal corporation
(herein "City') and Engineering Resources of Southern California, Inc. (herein "Contractor'). (The
term Contractor includes professionals performing in a consulting capacity).
NOW, TEEREFORE, the parties hereto agree as follows:
1.0 SERVICES OF CONTRACTOR
1.1 ,ape of Services. In compliance with all of the terms and conditions of this
Agreement, the Contractor shall perform the work or services set forth in the "Scope of Services"
attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by reference. Contractor warrants that all work
and services set forth in the Scope of Services will be performed in a competent, professional and
satisfactory manner.
1.2 Compliance With Law. All work and services rendered hereunder shall be
provided in accordance with all ordinances, resolutions, statutes, rules, and regulations of the City and
any Federal, State or local governmental agency of competent jurisdiction.
1.3 Licenses.Permits.Fees and Assessments. Contractor shall obtain at its sole cost
and expense such licenses, permits and approvals as may be required by law for the performance of the
services required by this Agreement.
2.0 COMPENSATION
2.1 Contract Sum. For the services rendered pursuant to this Agreement,Contractor
shall be compensated in accordance with the"Schedule of Compensation' attached hereto as Exhibit"B'
and incorporated herein by this reference,but not exceeding the maximum contract amount of$11,205.00
("Contract Sum").
2.2 Method of Payment. Provided that Contractor is not in default under the terms
of this Agreement, Contractor shall be paid as outlined in Exhibit "B", Schedule of Compensation.
3.0 COORDINATION OF WORK
3.1 Representative of Comracmr. Matt Brudin is hereby designated as being the
principal and representative of Contractor authorized to act in its behalf with respect to the work and
services specified herein and make all decisions in connection therewith.

EXHIBIT "A"
SCOPE OF SERVICES
The Contractor shall provide construction staking services for East Palm Canyon/Gene Autry Trail
Widening project, as follows:
Task 1-Control Survey
Conduct a field control survey to recover or re-establish survey control points for horizontal and
vertical datum for all survey tasks. Temporary control points shall be established within the
project area to facilitate staking activities during construction.
Task 2-Street Improvements
Install one set of offset stakes at 25-foot intervals for approximately 2,970 feet of 8-inch curb
and gutter and 5 curb returns with spandrels.
Tash 3-Storm Drain
A. Install one set of off-set stakes for approximately 1,040 feet of double tip 0-inch by 384nch
reinforced concrete pipe at 25 foot intervals. Additional offset stakes will be provided
for manhole construction and at E.C.'s and B.C.'s. Mainline staking will be offset to
the centerline of construction of the double barrel storm drain.
B. Install one set of offset stakes for a Type "A"headwall and concrete apron at the inlet
and outlet of the double barrel elliptical storm drain.
C. Install one set of off-set stakes for approximately 860 feet of 24-inch reinforced concrete
pipe at 25 foot intervals. Additional stakes shall be provided for manhole construction,
four 36-inch drop inlets and at E.C.'s and B.C.'s.
D. Install one set of offset stakes for approximately 150 feet of 18-inch reinforced concrete
pipe at 25 foot intervals. Additional stakes will be provided for one junction structure
and two 7-foot catch basins.

Agreement with Engineering Resources of Southern California, Inc., for the

for an amount not to exceed $11,205.00, City Project No. 92-36,was adopted by
the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, in a meeting thereof held
on the 18th day of July 2000.
