ANNUAL AIRPORT ADVERTISING PROGRAM
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council approve an advertising space contract with
Palm Springs Life magazine for advertising in the Palm Springs Desert Resorts
Group Destination Planner 00/01 in an amount not to exceed $12,000.00.
BACKGROUND:
In order to increase awareness of the Palm Springs International Airport and
promote the types of commercial airline service available to the Coachella Valley,
the Airport is planning to place an advertisement in the annual Palm Springs Desert
Resorts Group Destination Planner 00/01,produced by Palm Springs Life magazine
on behalf of the Palm Springs Desert Resorts Convention and Visitors Authority
(PSDRCVA).
This particular publication is distributed to meeting and convention planners
nationwide. It is a tool used by the Palm Springs Convention Center, PSDRCVA,
and many hotels in the Coachella Valley to promote their facilities. The destination
planner provides accommodation information on everything from small meetings to
large-scale conventions. In addition, each of the participating cities is highlighted
in the front of the planner. A key element in selecting a meeting site Is air
transportation accessibility.
This will mark the seventh consecutive year that the Airport has advertised and
participated in this nationally distributed publication. A completely new Airport
advertisement showcasing the recently completed terminal expansion and
renovation will grace the outside back cover for the fourth year in a row. The cost
for this advertising opportunity is$12,000.00, unchanged from last year. Sufficient
funds are available in the Airport's Public Relations account number 415-6002-
45520. There are no general fund monies associated with this contract. This item
was scheduled to be considered by the Airport Commission at its regularly
scheduled meeting of July 5, 2000.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that this Minute Order approving an advertising space
contract agreement with Palm Springs Life Magazine for an advertisement
in the Palm Springs Desert Resorts Group Destination Planner 00/01 in an
amount not to exceed$12,000.00 was adopted by the Council of the City of
Palm Springs, California in a meeting thereof held on the 5th day of July,
2000.
