FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION(FAA)GRANT ACCEPTANCE
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to accept federal grants up to
$10 million for safety/security related equipment,and airport developmentlimprovement project(s)
that are consistent with the Airport's Master Plan,the FAA's Airport Capital Improvement Program
and/or Noise Mitigation Program.
BACKGROUND:
The Federal Aviation Administration's(FAA)fiscal year ends September 30, 1999. As the clock
winds down there is potential for availability for FAA discretionary monies for distribution to
Airport's that have pre-applications on file and projects ready to move forward. Patin Springs
International Airport's (PSP) is in a favorable position to be the recipient of discretionary funds.
Once a grant offer is made,the Airport must be able to react promptly to ensure timely acceptance
of the grants,the attached Minute Order would authorize City Manager acceptance of the grants on
behalf of the City.

AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT
FEDERAL GRANTS UP TO $10 MILLION FOR
SAFETY/SECURITY RELATED EQUIPMENT,AND
AIRPORT DEVELOPMENT/IMPROVEMENT
PROJECT(S)THAT ARE CONSISTENT WITH THE
AIRPORTS MASTER PLAN, THE FAA'S AIRPORT
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM AND/OR
NOISE MITIGATION PROGRAM.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that this Minute Order,authorizing the City Managerto accept
federal grants up to $10 million for safety/security related equipment, and airport
development/improvement project(s) that are consistent with the Airport's Master
Plan, the FAA's Airport Capital Improvement Program and/or Noise Mitigation
Program, was adopted by City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California in a
meeting thereof held on the 15th day of September, 1999.
