HomeMy WebLinkAbout9/15/1999 - STAFF REPORTS (20) DATE: September 15, 1999 TO: City Council FROM: Director of Aviation FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION(FAA)GRANT ACCEPTANCE RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to accept federal grants up to $10 million for safety/security related equipment,and airport developmentlimprovement project(s) that are consistent with the Airport's Master Plan,the FAA's Airport Capital Improvement Program and/or Noise Mitigation Program. BACKGROUND: The Federal Aviation Administration's(FAA)fiscal year ends September 30, 1999. As the clock winds down there is potential for availability for FAA discretionary monies for distribution to Airport's that have pre-applications on file and projects ready to move forward. Patin Springs International Airport's (PSP) is in a favorable position to be the recipient of discretionary funds. Once a grant offer is made,the Airport must be able to react promptly to ensure timely acceptance of the grants,the attached Minute Order would authorize City Manager acceptance of the grants on behalf of the City.
