RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council approve Construction Change Order No. 2 to Tapuz Enterprises, Inc., for an increase of$14,018.80 for the Mid-Valley Parkway - Phase 1, LaiWi*eImprovdrWmts, Clly"PRojedtN-. 95-38. BACKGROUND: On April 7, 19990 City Council of the City of Palm Springs awarded Tapuz Enterprises, Inc. the contract for the Mid-Valley Parkway - Phase 1, Landscape Improvements Project. Labor to re-trench for the 2 in. and 2 'fi in. purple irrigation pipe is due to the delay for the re-design and council approval of the proposed 1 JA in.irrigation pipe to the 2 hL and 2 % in. irrigation pipe. The work will be done by force account per Caltrans Specifications. The process for pressure testing the irrigation pipe from I 'h in. to 2 in. and 2 'A in. will result in an increased in labor. Typically, to pressure test the proposed 1 'h in. irrigation line, it would have taken 1 hr. Due to the increase in pipe sizes, the pressure tests will take 3 hrs. The work will be done by farce account per Caltrans Specifications. Per the recommendation of the City's consulting Engineer,REP,and approved by the Planning Division, the contractor to install 2 wood stakes with ties for each Ocotillo tree 05 each)due to wind conditions. Items C through G represent differences between actual cost and estimated cost from C.C.O. No. 1 The estimated unit prices for the difference in pipe sizes in C.C.O. No. 1 were lower than what the Contractor actually paid.
