HomeMy WebLinkAbout7/21/1999 - STAFF REPORTS (17) DATE: July 21, 1999 TO: City Council FROM: Reprographics Technician via Director of Communications PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE FOR PRINTING EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve purchase of preventative maintenance for printing equipment from A.M.. Multigrapbics for a one year period in the amount of$ 18,831.00. BACKGROUND: The City's Communication Division utilizes A. M. Multigraphics printing equipment to provide reprographics services to all City departments. Staff recommends the purchase of preventative maintenance from A M. Multigraphics in order to maintain the print shop equipment in satisfactory operating condition minimizing down time. Experience has shown that this type of printing equipment can be maintained most economically through utilizing preventative maintenance rather than waiting for the units to break down and calling for repairs at time and material rates.Equipment covered includes a Model 1652KCD 2- color press, a Model 4620K 2-color press, A System 6 imager/duplicator, a 67-120 sorter, and a Challenge Model 305MC power cutter. There are no other locally available manufacturer- approved sources of preventative maintenance for this equipment. I HEREBY CERTIFY that this Minute Order approving the purchase of preventative maintenance for printing equipment from A M. Multigraphics for a one - year period in the amount of $18,831.00 plus applicable taxes, was adopted by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California,in a meeting thereof held on the 21"day of July, 1999.
