HomeMy WebLinkAbout7/28/1999 - STAFF REPORTS (22) DATE: July 28, 1999 TO: City Council FROM: Deputy Director, Airport Operations and Maintenance, via Director of Aviation AWARD BID FOR RESTROOM REMODEL AT PALM SPRINGS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council award contract to low bidder Commercial Diversified, Inc., for restroom re-modeling at Palm Springs International Airport in the amount of$93,000. BACKGROUND: This project comprises remodeling of the two existing restrooms in the main lobby of Palm Springs International Airport.The work includes:new lavatory countertops;new ceramic tile and new interior lighting fixtures throughout; minor demolition of walls and ceilings; removal and reinstallation of toilet partitions and plumbing fixtures; related plumbing and electrical work as required. Staff determined that in order to present Terminal restroom facilities meeting high standards of appearance and function,in accordance with the expectations of the traveling public,a re- modeling of the existing facilities was in order. Funds were budgeted for this work, and architectural plans and specifications were developed through Interactive Design Corporation. The project was advertised and put out to bid, and representatives of nine (9) firms attended the pre-bid conference/walk through. Two bids were received. The low responsive bidder was Commercial Diversified, Inc., with a bid of $93,000; the second bidder was Gamut Construction Co., Inc., with a bid of$110,000. CITY PROJECT NO. 99-05 - - - - - - - - - - - - - I HEREBY CERTIFY that this Minute Order awarding contract to Commercial Diversified, Inc., for the restroom re-modeling at Palm Springs International Airport in an amount not-to-exceed $93,000, was approved by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California in a meeting thereof held on the 28th day of July, 1999.
