DATE: April 19, 2000 TO: City Council FROM: City Engineer AWARD CONTRACT FOR VARIOUS TRAFFIC SIGNAL IMPROVEMENTS RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council award contract to Signal Maintenance, Inc., for Bid Schedules A and C in the amount of$111,650.00 for Various Traffic Signal Improvements (Ramon Road/Compadre Road, and Ramon Road/Sunrise Way), City Project No. 98-03. BACKGROUND: The 1999/2000 Capital Improvement Budget includes funds for upgrading pedestrian signals and traffic signal equipment. This project consisted of 3 bid schedules. Schedule A incuded upgrading the existing pedestrian signal at Ramon Road and Compadre Road for full vehicle control. The existing configuration of a traffic signal for Ramon Road traffic and stop signs for Compadre Road presents a possible CVC conflict. Schedule B included rewiring the existing traffic signal at Sunrise Way and Tahquitz Canyon Way due to deteriorated wiring. Schedule C included installation of Emergency Vehicle Preemption detectors at the existing signal at Ramon Road and Sunrise Way.
