CALL TO ORDER: Chair Loyola called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioners: Loyola, Greer, Horne, Rinke, and Soja Absent: Commissioners Rimas and Vignolo Staff Present: Jeremy Hammond, Deputy City Manager, City Manager's Office 3. PRESENTATIONS: Lex Ortega, Director of Community Programs at the LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert gave a presentation. Thomi Clinton, CEO and Founder of the Transgender Health and Wellness Center gave a presentation. 4. ACCEPTANCE OF THE AGENDA. MOTION BY: Commissioner Greer, Second by Commissioner Rinke to approve the agenda. MOTION PASSES. YES 5; NO 0; ABSTAINED 0 S. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Approval of the Regular Minutes of February 10, 2025. MOTION BY: Commissioner Greer, Second by Commissioner Horne to approve the minutes. MOTION PASSES. YES 5; NO 0; ABSTAINED 0 6. WELCOME AND COMMENTS FROM THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION CHAIR Chair Loyola presented introductory comments. 7. PUBLIC COMMENTS: There were no public comments. 8. NEW BUSINESS: Community Service Awards — Commissioners discussed suggested criteria for the Community Service Awards prepared by Commissioners Horne and Rinke. The Commission asked that this be placed on a subsequent agenda for further consideration. A. Commissioner Resignation Chair Loyola announced the receipt of a letter from Commissioner Cleary immediately resigning from the Human Rights Commission. Human Rights Commission Meeting Minutes March 10, 2025 Page 2 9. DISCUSSION ITEMS: A. Update on Municipal Code. The Commission reviewed and discussed proposed revisions to Chapter 2.45 of the Palm Springs Municipal Code regarding the Human Rights Commission. The Commission will have this item placed on subsequent agendas to provide additional recommendations to the staff liaison for additional revisions to be presented to the City Council at a future date. B. Calendar Planning for 2025 The Commission discussed the continued development of the calendar for 2025. Chair Loyola and other Commissioners will contact organizations and speakers for future Commission meetings. A draft calendar will be updated by the staff liaison and presented at subsequent Commission meetings to assist with future planning efforts. 10. COMMISSION MEMBER COMMENTS AND REQUESTS: None 11.
