City of Palm Springs
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission
Pursuant to Assembly Bill 361, this meeting was conducted by teleconference and
in-person public access to the meeting location.
I. CALL TO ORDER:
The regular meeting of the City of Palm Springs Parks & Recreation Commission was
called to order at 5:33 PM by Chair Miraglia and the roll call was taken by
Administrative Specialist Rylee Bates.

III. REPORT OF POSTING OF AGENDA
The Agenda for this meeting was posted at City Hall, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way;
the Palm Springs Leisure Center, 401 S. Pavilion Way; and the City of Palm Springs’
website prior to 5:30 PM on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, as required by established
policies and procedures.
IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE MEETING OF May 19, 2025
Motion: Vice-Chair Coladonato
Second: Commissioner Admire
Motion Carried: Yes
V. PUBLIC COMMENT:
Correspondence was emailed to Commissioners prior to the Meeting.
1. William Miller: Expressed concern regarding the care of the landscaping on City
properties. He also offered an idea to get more trees planted in the City . He also
offered suggestions regarding where the City could plant more pollinator plants.
VI. DIRECTOR’S REPORT:
Director Gonzalez gave a report on previous and upcoming City Council agenda
items as they relate to the Parks & Recreation Department, past events, new
employees, Parks & Recreation program features, and Maintenance and Facilities
highlights. Project Manager Brickley gave an update on the projects pertaining to
our parks.
VII. PRESENTATION/ACTION ITEMS:
A. PRESENTATION: Palm Springs Swim Center Building and Locker Room Schematic
Design
Maria Song with Interactive Design Corporation presented the Commission with
information regarding the schematic design for the Swim Center building and locker
room.
B. ACTION: Proclamation of “July 2025 as Parks & Recreation Month”
Staff presented information to the Commission and asked that the Commission
recommend that the City Council proclaim July as “Parks & Recreation Month” in the
City of Palm Springs.
Motion: Chair Miraglia
Second: Commissioner Davis
Motion passes. Noting the absence of Commissioners Fine, Diaz, and Shands.
C. PRESENTATION: Special Events Updates
Director Gonzalez presented upcoming Special Events for the Parks & Recreation
Department.

AD-HOC UPDATES:
Dog Park: Chair Miraglia shared that the next Ad-Hoc meeting will be on July 10, 2025
at 1:00pm.
Pickleball: Commissioner Finland gave echoed the update given by Director
Gonzalez and reiterated that there is still work happening on the temporary site and
the Pickleball complex project is still in the bidding process.
Master Plan and Park Enhancements: Commissioner Nagaia gave an update in
regards to Ruth Hardy and Desert Highland Parks and that the color selections are
still under review. In regards to Master Plan, the Ad-Hoc will be meeting to work on a
priorities list to bring forward soon.
Swim Center: Commissioner Admire shared that there are no new updates after
today’s presentation by Maria Song.
VIII. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS:
Chair Miraglia gave sentiments and thanks to Vice-Chair Coladonato for his ten years
of service on the Parks & Recreation Commission. Commissioner Nagaia echoed
sentiments to Vice-Chair Coladonato. Commissioner Nagaia also announced
information on how to donate supplies to the backpack drive happening on two
occasions in the City.
IX. ADJOURNMENT:
There being no other business Chair Miraglia adjourned the meeting.
The Parks & Recreation Commission adjourned at 6:29 PM with the next Regular Meeting to
be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, via teleconference and in-person.
