8228 to register for the Zoom meeting by 5:00 PM the day of the meeting. There will be
an email with Zoom credentials sent after registration is complete, in order to access the
meeting and offer public comments.
Any person who wishes to provide public testimony for an item on the agenda is requested
notify the Commission Liaison before the Public Testimony portion of the meeting. You
may submit your public comment to the Public Arts Commission electronically. Materials
may be emailed to jay.virata@palmspringsca.gov. Transmittal by 5:00 PM before the start
of the meeting will help ensure that your correspondence is fully considered. Any
correspondence received after 5:00 PM will be distributed to the Public Arts Commission
and retained for the official record.

D. PUBLIC COMMENTS: This time has been set aside for members of the public to
address the Public Arts Commission on items of general interest within the subject
matter jurisdiction of the Commission, and agenda items if the member of the public
cannot be present later in the meeting at the time the item is heard by the
Commission. Additionally, members of the public may address the Commission on
each item listed on the posted agenda at the time each item is heard. Although the

Public Arts Commission values your comments, pursuant to the Brown Act, it
generally cannot take any action on items not listed on the posted agenda. Three
(3) minutes are assigned for each speaker.

1. Discuss art project evaluation process.
2. Discuss Beautiful Shade Call for Artists.
3. Discuss partial funding of privately funded donations to the city’s Public Art
Collection. What parameters and considerations, if any, should be met for
commission approval.
A. Consider request for $65,000 of Public Art Funds for the sitework and
installation of the Palm Springs AIDS Memorial by Artist Philip K. Smith;
and recommend the Palm Springs City Council approve the allocation of
Public Art Funds for sitework and installation.
B. Consider request for $70,000 of Public Art Funds for the PS Pride
Monument by Artist Jim Isermann; and recommend the Palm Springs City
Council approve the allocation of Public Art Funds for the PS Pride
Monument.
4. Discuss Asphalt Art project schedule.
5. Review and approve relocation of art in Sunrise Park: Spider Bike Rack, R
Hero, and Tot.

ADJOURNMENT: The Public Arts Commission will adjourn to a meeting on
December 5, 2024, at 5:30 P.M. in the Large Conference Room of Palm Springs City
Hall located at 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way.
