Any person who wishes to provide public testimony for an item on the agenda is requested to file a speaker card before the Public Testimony portion of the meeting. You may submit your public comment to the Public Arts Commission electronically. Materials may be emailed to jay.virata@palmspringsca.gov. Transmittal prior to the start of the meeting will help ensure that your correspondence is fully considered. Any correspondence received during or after the meeting will be distributed to the Public Arts Commission and retained for the official record. PUBLIC COMMENTS: This time has been set aside for members of the public to address the Public Arts Commission on items of general interest within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Commission, and agenda items if the member of the public cannot be present later in the meeting at the time the item is heard by the Commission. Additionally, members of the public may address the Commission on Public Arts Commission Meeting Agenda – March 7, 2024 Page 2 each item listed on the posted agenda at the time each item is heard. Although the Public Arts Commission values your comments, pursuant to the Brown Act, it generally cannot take any action on items not listed on the posted agenda. PUBLIC HEARING: 1. Consider Resolution No. MUR-2024-0005 “A RESOLUTION OF THE PUBLIC ARTS COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AN ART MURAL APPLICATION FOR “DESERT SUN AND PALM TREE” BY MURALIST SEAN SPELLMAN LOCATED ON THE NORTH AND SOUTH ELEVATION OF THE BUILDING AT 284 SOUTH INDIAN CANYON DRIVE (CASE MUR-2024-0005)” I. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION/APPROVAL: 1. Approve use of Public Art Funds in the amount of $10,000 to relocate the Taming of the Horses installation by Altanviro and Loper of six sculptures on the E. Tahquitz Canyon Way medians between Sunrise Way and El Cielo Road. 2. Approve use of Public Art Funds in the amount of $25,000 to repair art pads and bases for public art pieces. 3. Discuss requirements for plaques for the Pillars project. 4. James O. Jesse Park and Victoria Park Artscape in the Park projects next steps. 5. REPORT FROM DIRECTOR/STAFF: ADJOURNMENT: The Public Arts Commission will adjourn to a meeting on April 4, 2024, at 5:30 P.M. in the Large Conference Room of Palm Springs City Hall located at 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way.
