D. PUBLIC COMMENTS: This time has been set aside for members of the public to address the Public
Arts Commission on items of general interest within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Commission,
and agenda items if the member of the public cannot be present later in the meeting at the time the item
is heard by the Commission. Additionally, members of the public may address the Commission on each
item listed on the posted agenda at the time each item is heard. Although the Public Arts Commission
values your comments, pursuant to the Brown Act, it generally cannot take any action on items not listed
on the posted agenda. Five (5) minutes are assigned for each speaker.

G. APPROVAL OF DONATION OF PROPOSED AIDS MEMORIAL SCULPTURE FOR THE
DOWNTOWN PARK
1. Presentation by Dan Spencer and Phillip K. Smith
2. Vote to approve sculpture according to the Public Arts Ordinance (attached) and send to City
Council for their approval
H. REVIEW OF PROJECTS FOR CITY COUNCIL CONSENT AGENDA ON JUNE 24
(Projects approved at previous Public Arts Commission meetings)
1. Approval of a two-year loan of the installation on the Tahquitz median entitled The Art of Taming
Horses, subject to a loan agreement with the artist, Christopher Myers, not to exceed $20,000
2. Approval of one-year loan agreement for The Wishing Well sculpture/installation (July 2021-
June 2022), with Serge Attukwei Clottey/SIMCO (Simchowitz Gallery) at James O Jessie Desert
Highland Unity Center (including de-installation, not to exceed $10,000.)
3. Approval of engineering assessment (not to exceed $5000) of James O. Jessie Center wall in
order to proceed with restoration of Richard Wyatt Mural.
4. Discussion of contracts with updated scope and rates:
a. Sarah Scheidman (not to exceed $18,000,)
b. Madalina Garza (not to exceed $9,000)
c. Tysen Knight for repair and graffiti removal. (not to exceed $6000.)
5. Extension of time frame only (until September 30) for contracts with Arlene Amick (The Art
Collective) and Alicia Thomas (Nail-2-Nail) for collection management.
6. Discuss items pulled from May 27 Council consent agenda.
7. Discuss CARES grants that have not been approved by City Council.

ADJOURNMENT: The Public Arts Commission will adjourn to a Regular Meeting, Wednesday July 21, 2021
5:30 p.m. via teleconference.
