Dear City Councilmember, My name is Peter Schireson. My wife and I moved to Palm Springs almost four years ago. We love this city and our Old Las Palmas neighborhood (District 3). Wanting to contribute something to the community, I recently became a member of the Palm Springs Public Library Foundation Board, and am writing now about the upcoming Library Renovation Project. When I retired from business 15 years ago, I did something strange; I started writing poetry. I have read more books since retiring than in my entire life before retirement, in addition to publishing six volumes of poetry. As a book lover, libraries are close to my heart. There is something about a library, a kind of deep and peaceful communal atmosphere that is extraordinary and precious. I hope that when the Renovation project comes before you, you will support it wholeheartedly. Thank you! Peter Schireson 860 N Prescott Drive Palm Springs 92262 05/14/2025 Public Comment Item 1M
