PUBLIC COMMENTS:
This time has been set aside for members of the public to address the Public Arts Commission on items of general interest within the subject
matter jurisdiction of the Public Arts Commission, and agenda items if the member of the public cannot be present later in the meeting at the
time the item is heard by the Commission. Additionally, members of the public may address the Commission on each item listed on the
posted Agenda at the time each item is heard. Although the Public Arts Commission values your comments, pursuant to the Brown Act, it
generally cannot take any action on items not listed on the posted agenda. Five (5) minutes assigned for each speaker.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES RECOMMENDATION:
Approve Public Arts Commission Minutes for the May 10, 2018 Regular Meeting
A. PRESENTATIONS:
1. Proposed public art project(s) for the Dream Hotel at the northwest corner of Avenida
Caballeros and Amado Road.

B. NEW BUSINESS:
2. Authorize five (5) month extension of the Consulting Services Agreement with social media
consultant GL The Very Best Services LLC (Madalina Garza) for $5,000.
RECOMMENDATION: Direct City Manager to complete contract amendment in the amount of
$5,000
3. Authorize refund in the amount of $1,426 for Art Mural Application Fees paid by Palm Springs
Cultural Center for the installation of an art mural on the commercial building at 2300 East
Baristo Road (CASE 18-002 MUR).
RECOMMENDATION: Direct Staff to reimburse applicant fees in the amount of $1,426 to be
paid from Public Art Fund 150-4408-50015

4. July 12, 2018, Public Arts Commission Meeting Cancellation
Review calendar and make a recommendation to cancel the July 12, 2018, Public Arts
Commission meeting due to the summer holiday.
RECOMMENDATION: Next regular meeting on September 13, 2018; Study Session on
September 6, 2018
C. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
5. Downtown Revitalization Project, Temporary Public Art Sign Installation, by Michael Birnberg
Discuss and approve changing installation location of the temporary public art sign by Michael
Birnberg from Grit Development, site Block F, to the southwest corner of Museum Drive and
Tahquitz Canyon Way in the Public Event Space Area.
RECOMMENDATION: Receive verbal report from Commissioner Pritchard and direct Staff as
appropriate
6. Homeless Art Project Report
Report and status of homeless art project.
RECOMMENDATION: Receive verbal report from Commissioner Murray and direct Staff as
appropriate
D. LEGISLATIVE:
7. MAKE A RECOMMENDATION TO THE CITY COUNCIL REGARDING A REQUEST FOR
APPROVAL OF AN ART MURAL APPLICATION BY PALM SPRINGS ART MUSEUM FOR
THE ART MURAL “CON TUS TIAS” BY SOFIA ENRIQUEZ ON CITY-OWNED PROPERTY
AT THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF MUSEUM DRIVE AND TAHQUITZ CANYON WAY AT
THE PUBLIC EVENT SPACE AREA OF THE DOWNTOWN REVITI ALIZATION SITE (CASE
18-003 MUR) IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE GUIDELINES SET FORTH BY SECTION 5.81
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE AND SECTIONS 93.20.00 & 93.20.03 OF THE PALM SPRINGS
ZONING CODE.
RECOMMENDATION: Review Art Mural Application #18-003 MUR and adopt a resolution of
the Public Arts Commission making a recommendation to City Council for consideration.
8. MAKE A RECOMMENDATION TO THE CITY COUNCIL REGARDING A REQUEST FOR
APPROVAL OF AN ART MURAL APPLICATION BY THE ROWAN FOR A TEMPORARY
ART MURAL ON A PORTION OF THE EAST ELEVATION OF THE EXISTING HOTEL
LOACATED AT 100 WEST TAHQUITZ CANYON WAY (CASE 18-004 MUR) IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE GUIDELINES SET FORTH BY SECTION 5.81 OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE AND SECTIONS 93.20.00 & 93.20.03 OF THE PALM SPRINGS ZONING
CODE.
RECOMMENDATION: Review Art Mural Application #18-004 MUR and adopt a resolution of

SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS:
9. Sites and Installations Subcommittee Report: Discussion of Proposal for Consulting
Services Agreement with Branded Arts, LLC for the first of two phases to manage a public art
project at the Downtown Revitalization Project, site Block F, owned by Grit Development, as
specified by the Public Arts Commission’s Sites and Installations Subcommittee.
RECOMMENDATION: Discussion and direct staff as appropriate.
10. Public Arts Commission’s Ad-Hoc Downtown Park Subcommittee Report: Proposal
earmark up to $150,000, for the acquisition of art for the Downtown Park, as specified by the
Public Arts Commission’s Ad-Hoc Downtown Park Subcommittee, with all projects to be
approved by the full (all members) Public Arts Commission.
RECOMMENDATION: Discussion and direct staff as appropriate.
11. 30th Anniversary Celebration Sub-Committee Report: Proposed schedule of programs for
2018-19, with preliminary budget of $45,000, to be submitted by the Subcommittee to the
Public Arts Commission as developed.

2018, at 4:00 p.m. at City Hall, Large Conference Room, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs,
California.
