PUBLIC COMMENTS:
This time has been set aside for members of the public to address the Public Arts Commission on items of general interest within the subject
matter jurisdiction of the Public Arts Commission, and agenda items if the member of the public cannot be present later in the meeting at the
time the item is heard by the Commission. Additionally, members of the public may address the Commission on each item listed on the
posted Agenda at the time each item is heard. Although the Public Arts Commission values your comments, pursuant to the Brown Act, it
generally cannot take any action on items not listed on the posted agenda. Five (5) minutes assigned for each speaker.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES RECOMMENDATION:
Approve Public Arts Commission Minutes for the September 14, 2017 Regular Meeting

2. Discussion Regarding Possible Revisions to the Resolution of the Palm Springs Public Arts
Commission Establishing Two-Year Term Limits For the Seat of Chair and Vice Chair
RECOMMENDATION: Discussion and Motion to Vote on Amending or Rescinding the
Established Resolution
3. Selection of Chair and Vice Chair for 2017-18 Term
RECOMMENDATION: Direct Staff as Appropriate
4. Discussion to Reschedule the Established Monthly Meeting Time of the Public Arts Commission
RECOMMENDATION: Discussion and Motion to Vote on Amending or Retaining the
Established Meeting Time
5. Discussion Regarding Proposed Changes to the Guidelines Set Forth by Palm Springs
Municipal Code Chapter 5.81 Sections 93.20.00 & 93.20.03 of the Zoning Code Relating to Art
Murals on Private Property
RECOMMENDATION: Review Art Murals Ordinance and make a recommendation to City
Council for consideration

6. Project and Event Review 2017-18
Confirm Public Arts project list and calendar for January-May 2018.
RECOMMENDATION: Direct Staff as Appropriate
7. Community Art Exhibitions 2017-18
Review Upcoming Exhibitions including: 19th Annual Juried Art Show, Update; Martin Luther
King, Jr. “Excellence In Art” Student Exhibition, 14 January 2018, confirm dates/details;
Cesar Chavez “Excellence In Art” Student Exhibition, 23 March 2018, exhibition
dates/details.
RECOMMENDATION: Receive Verbal Subcommittee Report
8. Education and Community Outreach Programming
Review upcoming 2017-18 Outreach events including: PSUSD Artist in Residence
Program: starts 8 January 2018; Art for Kids Day: 4 February 2018, partner event with Desert
Art Center discuss contributing $500 towards Susan Evans-Smith Scholarship fund for
local high school students attending College of the Desert pursuing arts education; Family Fun
Fest participation: 28 March 2018, confirmation is needed.

ADJOURNMENT: The Public Arts Commission will adjourn to a Regular Meeting, Thursday, November 9, 2017,
at 2:00 p.m. at City Hall, Large Conference Room, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs, California
