Additionally, members of the public may address the Commission on each item listed on the posted Agenda at the time each item is heard. Although the Public Arts Commission v alues your comments, pursuant to the Brown Act, it generally cannot take any action on items not listed on the posted agenda. Five (5) minutes assigned for each speaker. APPROVAL OF MINUTES RECOMMENDATION: Approve Public Arts Commission Minutes for the following:  May 11, 2017, Regular Meeting  May 25, 2017, Study Session  June 8, 2017, Regular Meeting A. PRESENTATIONS: 1. None B. NEW BUSINESS: 2. Selection of Chair and Vice Chair for 2017-18 Term RECOMMENDATION: Direct Staff as Appropriate 3. 2017-18 Public Arts Budget Review Presentation Regarding Approved Funding Allocations RECOMMENDATION: Receive Report from Community & Economic Development Director C. Assignment of Subcommittees and Members RECOMMENDATION: Direct Staff as Appropriate Thursday September 14, 2017 Palm Springs City Hall 2:00 p.m. Large Conference Room Public Arts Commission Regular Meeting Agenda – September 14, 2017 Page 2 5. Project and Event Review 2017-18 Confirm Public Arts project list and calendar including: Art Education Programs; 19th Annual Juried Art Show; Library Exhibitions; Student Exhibitions and Palm Springs Art Museum Pop -up Events. RECOMMENDATION: Direct Staff as Appropriate 6. Education and Community Outreach Programming Review and approve collateral materials for upcoming 2017-18 Public Arts events including the Public Arts Event Postcard; 19th Annual Juried Art Show Prospectus Design; and Boho Bazaar Holiday Art Mart materials. RECOMMENDATION: Receive Verbal Subcommittee Report 7. Public Art Sculpture Relocation and Maintenance Update on relocation of the John Clement Sculptures to the Tahquitz Canyon Way Median; relocation of “R.HERO” to Victoria Park; Installation of two public art bicycle racks; Subcommittee report on other pending installations RECOMMENDATION: Receive Subcommittee Report and Staff Update D. LEGISLATIVE: 8. RECOMMEND THE APPROVAL OF GRIT DEVELOPMENT’S PROPOSAL FOR THE PUBLIC ART INSTALLATION “PS MERMAID”, BY ARTIST JULIAN VOSS-ANDREAE, RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution No. __ “A RESOLUTION OF THE PUBLIC ARTS COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING GRIT DEVELOPMENT’S PROPOSAL FOR THE PUBLIC ART INSTALLATION “PS MERMAID”, BY ARTIST JULIAN VOSS-ANDREAE TO BE LOCATED AT THE DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION PROJECT.” 9. MAKE A RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL REGARDING A SCULPTURE LOAN FROM THE TRANSGENDER COMMUNITY COALITION FOR A DURATION OF TWENTY- FOUR MONTHS TO BE INSTALLED AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE OF THE PALM SPRINGS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution No. ____ “A RESOLUTION OF THE PUBLIC ARTS COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A TWENTY-FOUR MONTH SCULPTURE LOAN FROM THE TRANSGENDER COMMUNITY COALITION FOR A SCULPTURE BY ARTIST, HEATH SATOW , TO BE LOCATED AT THE PALM SPRINGS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.” 10. MAKE A RECOMMENDATION TO THE CITY COUNCIL REGARDING A REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF AN ART MURAL APPLICATION BY TRIO RESTAURANT FOR AN ART MURAL ON THE COMMERCIAL BUILDING AT 707 NORTH PALM CANYON DRIVE (CASE 17-003 MUR) IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE GUIDELINES SET FORTH BY SECTION 5.81 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE AND SECTIONS 93.20.00 & 93.20.03 OF THE PALM SPRINGS ZONING CODE. RECOMMENDATION: Review Art Mural Application #17-003 MUR and adopt a resolution of the Public Arts Commission making a recommendation to City Council for consideration. E. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS: 11.
