Why was it hidden and not in non-agenda correspondence? Why is he allowed to create his own City Seal - going against the City Charter? Why does the City allow this fame whore to behave in the manner he does. Thank you, City of Palm Springs This is an automated message generated by Granicus. The Navigation Center, Access Center, and Aloe Palm Canyon project are major accomplishments. They show that Palm Springs is committed to finding real solutions. But as someone working directly with people experiencing homelessness in this city,I can tell you the need is still great.Palm Springs had the highest number of unsheltered individuals in the valley in the last Point-in-Time Count. While 2025 data isn’t out yet,we know the crisis hasn’t slowed down.So I’m here to ask:What more is being done to expand emergency shelter and affordable housing? What plans are in place to secure funding for new housing developments? And how will the city address gentrification, which risks pushing vulnerable residents further into instability?Thank you. Dear City Council Members, I am writing as a concerned resident of the Coachella Valley to express my profound outrage over the blatant antisemitic hate speech displayed by the band Kneecap during their performance at the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The band’s projection of the slogan “Fuck Israel” in massive lights was a vile act of incitement, a direct attack on the Jewish community, and an affront to all residents who cherish peace and inclusivity in our valley. This disgusting display of hatred, permitted to unfold on one of the world’s most prominent stages, is an unacceptable stain on our community’s reputation and must not be tolerated. Let’s be clear: under the guise of vilifying Israel, this was an attempt to vilify Jews. It is a dangerous and dishonest form of antisemitism—hiding behind the banner of political activism while targeting an entire people. My own family has personally endured the trauma and pain of the October 7th terrorist attacks in Israel, and we know too well where this kind of rhetoric leads. We welcome visitors to our valley, but no one should be made to feel unwelcome or unsafe in their own home. Not here. Not now. Not ever. Even more disturbing, the festival organizers clearly knew this was going to happen and allowed it. This was not a spontaneous act. It was premeditated, approved, and executed with full awareness—making the organizers complicit in giving hate a stage. Their inaction, despite knowing the inflammatory content to come, shows a stunning lack of responsibility and a dangerous disregard for the safety and dignity of Jewish residents and guests. We, the Jewish residents of this valley, expect immediate and decisive action. I will not be made to feel unsafe, unwelcome, or intimidated in my own community—especially not by outside performers who are invited here as guests and given the privilege to profit from our local support and infrastructure. That privilege comes with responsibility. When it is abused to spread hate, there must be consequences. The “Fuck Israel” slogan is not a legitimate expression of political critique; it is a venomous call to hate, dehumanizing an entire nation and its people while fueling antisemitism that has no place in our diverse and vibrant valley. Such rhetoric incites division, hostility, and the potential for violence, creating an unsafe and unwelcome environment for Jewish residents and festival attendees. We cannot ignore the chilling parallels to the atrocities of the Nova Music Festival on October 7, 2023, where innocent eventgoers were massacred, raped, and kidnapped by Hamas terrorists in a barbaric attack on a celebration of music and peace. The memory of those victims—young people dancing, enjoying a festival of joy—must not be forgotten. Imagine the rightful outrage if any other group—based on race, religion, or nationality—were targeted with a similar slur in giant lights at a city-sanctioned event. It would be condemned swiftly and unequivocally. The fact that this was allowed to occur without immediate intervention exposes a shameful double standard and a dangerous tolerance for antisemitism. The Coachella Festival is a privilege, not a right, for performers like Kneecap. They are guests in our valley, benefiting from our hospitality, infrastructure, and global platform. To repay this privilege by spewing hate and making residents feel alienated in their own home is an outrageous betrayal. Our valley is a place of celebration, unity, and cultural exchange—not a soapbox for foreign bands to hijack with divisive and violent rhetoric. Kneecap’s actions, and the festival’s failure to intervene, sent a chilling message that antisemitism is permissible under the guise of “free speech.” This is a betrayal of every resident who expects our city’s to uphold dignity and safety for all. 04/23/2025 Public Comment Non-Agenda The silence from our city leaders is deafening! Good morning Alyssa, I just read a news article her at home in Ottawa, Canada regarding the Mayor's efforts to make our snowbird and visitor's feel welcomed and supported in Palm Springs. What an awesome show of support for us. We are not just neighbour's, we are brothers/sisters, allies and our histories and two great nations is intertwined. I have traveled alot in the USA and have always felt welcome and been treated like a friend. Thank You all for your unwavering friendship. We just watched the mayor of Palm Springs whining about Canadians not being good friends because we are not visiting. Well, firstly look to your right, all the way to Washington DC because all of your questions can be answered by actions emanating from there. Secondly, your country clearly said they dont need us. Thirdly, we feel too vulnerable to visit because our security isn’t assured and we must carry entry papers at all times. And in fourth position for the reasons you won’t be seeing me until your leadership changes for the better, the exchange rate makes a holiday very expensive compared to other more enticing options. Hello City Council Members, I attended the meeting on April 9 where the approval or discontinuation of this $12M bridge construction was on the table. I heard many of the community members express their opinions during the first half of the meeting, majority of which were against the construction. It was interesting to me how the community's representatives stated during the discussion of the proposal that they and the people responsible for pushing this project forward failed to ask for the community's input during the last time the approval was postponed, and even went so far as to blame the community for not inserting themselves into this discussion earlier. That's disheartening to hear from people responsible for acting in the best interest of the community they are serving. With how much has changed in the world since covid happened just 5 years ago, I was shocked that the fact an environmental review of the land the bridge would sit on was last done in 2012 -- THIRTEEN YEARS AGO -- wasn't enough to dissuade you on moving forward with this underfunded project. Not only has environmental and scientific knowledge grown exponentially in thirteen years, but most notably the land has become a preserve within that time. No one thought it might be important to understand the impact on the land and the surrounding communities from a current perspective? If the project acknowledges weather events are getting more intense (implied: due to the climate crisis caused by damage to natural environments), why is it your first instinct to destroy this plot of expanding natural land and pump more lifeless concrete into the delicate crust of this planet that is begging us to stop? Instead of $12M to fund a concrete structure, why not use that money to expand the natural landscape in a way that could funnel and use up this natural resource of water the way the planet and the plants know how? The proposed bridge funnels the massive extra amounts of water into the already full golf course lake, has anyone thought of how those surrounding homes would be affected by the overflow of water coming from inside their community? It wasn't discussed in the meeting, do any of you know how the pond would deal with the excess water and what structures would be affected first should it overflow? I shouldn't even have to talk about how underfunded and precarious the money situation for this project seemed in that council meeting. Plus having to finish this massive construction in under a year? When it was originally estimated to take 2 years? Where did half of the construction time go? Construction and the supply chain is becoming more unreliable as time continues, how are they so confident this project can start and finish by the end of next year with so much uncertainty? Smells like over promising so this design that’s been in process for over a decade doesn't end up in the trash. 04/23/2025 Public Comment Non-Agenda I have empathy for all sides in this. I acknowledge how much effort and time has already gone into a low impact design for the safety of the people. That doesn't mean there aren't glaring issues or missed opportunities that should be ignored or can't be addressed in a more up to date concept. I appreciate the delay of voting on this matter in the meeting, and I appreciate your consideration of this email. Hi Alyssa: Please forward this note to the Honourable Mayor de Harte My husband and I have been visiting and later owning homes in Palm Springs since 1980. Our last home in Palm Springs was on Sierra Way and we had to sell it due to Covid as we did not know when or if we might return. Please believe me when I tell you that Canadians are sad to be staying away from the United States. However, your current President was disrespectful of our Prime Minister and then called us the 51 State - disrespectful again. He has also threatened (and is trying) to ruin the Canadian economy. We hoped that things would calm down - but no - now much worse,. Now Canadians are mad at the things going on at the Presidential level. 04/23/2025 Public Comment Non-Agenda We are ever hopeful that your President will realize that Canada is not an enemy and we will be able to enjoy time in your beautiful City once again, Sincerely, Kathleen Paterson Vancouver Island, British Columbia 04/23/2025 Public Comment Non-Agenda From:Alyssa Chavez To:Alyssa Chavez Cc:City Clerk Subject:FW: Thanks for the banners; we"ll be back Date:Thursday, April 10, 2025 9:08:13 AM Good Morning Council (bcc’d), I want to share the email below with you.
