My knowledge of the Commission and its work / duties are limited to what I have had the opportunity to observe
over the last 14 months. I understand that the Commission functions in an advisory capacity to the City Council on
matters relating to planning and monitoring of the City's 11 parks and recreational services and facilities, operations
of the municipal golf course, special events, and leisure services programs and activities. Ad Hoc Committees of the
Commission work in specific areas to study and improve facilities, programs and the like.

I was a nationally ranked athlete in Canada. I am currently the Head Coach of the Palm Springs Masters Swim Club
which has grown from 3 persons to 40 persons over the last two years. I am a certified United States Masters
Swimming (USMS) Coach with Level I, II and II designations) and hold an Adult Learn to Swim Instructor Certification.
I have substantial experience in the management and administration of pool facilities and programs. I have been
involved with members of the Community to prepare a summary of issues affecting with Swim Center in Palm
Springs at the request of the Parks and Recreation Commission's Ad Hoc Committee for Swim Center Operations.

The Parks and Recreation Department is undertaking the development / renewal of a 10 year Master Plan. Many of
the City's Parks and Recreation facilities are continuing to age and the infrastructure will need to be replaced /
refurbished in the years ahead. The continued and projected population growth of the City will continue too place
stresses on the existing facilities and a few to the future will have to include additional facilities and programs as a
result. All of this takes money and the Commission will have to carefully work with staff to ensure the best possible
allocation of funds to achieve maximum public impact.

indoor pickleball facility (which could host tournaments, have fees for usage and/or citizen membership), the bond
could pair a high yield investment (higher coupon rate) with much needed projects which likely would have a lower
coupon rate.
