January 20, 2025 City of Palm Springs City Council / City Hall 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way Palm Springs, CA. 92262 (760) 322-8204 - www. palmspringsca.gov Attention: Clerk of the Board / City Council / General Public Re: Written letter to be entered in the Public record and made available for public Inspection for the January 23, 2025 (5:30) Regular Scheduled Palm Springs City Council meeting - Agenda Item: 1.A (City Council meeting minutes of January 9, 2025) Dear current City Council members, Please review my written statements listed below prior to the consideration of agenda Item: 1.A (Approval of City Council January 9, 2025 meeting minutes). It's highly recommended to abandon the Citys motivation to approve the January 9, 2025 City of Palm Springs Council meeting minutes as written. It's reasonable to consider that Palm Springs City officials have used the pretext notion of "streamlining" the City's (duty) of accurately recording (written minutes) of verbal testimony given during City conducted Public meetings held under it's authority with the radical Implementation of eliminating (omitting) major aspects (ALL) public verbal testimony given during Palm Springs City conducted public meetings. It's been repeatedly demonstrated that Palm Springs city officials have ONLY recorded (written minutes) of public speaker(s) names (if given) in the official public record. No other related Information of the topic(s) (Agenda Item(s) that were spoken in regards too) were recorded within the January 9, 2025 City Council meeting minutes. a brief description (summary) of the verbalize public testimony that was surrendered by the general public was NOT recorded in the Citys written meeting minutes. Also, NO indication of support or opposition to the agenda Item(s) that were spoken (verbal testimony) in regards too were recorded within the written meeting minutes. It's highly recommended to recognize and record public speaker(s) name(s) (if given) and the agenda Item(s) (topic) that verbal testimony was directed towards plus a brief summary of the spoken statement that was given by the Public speaker(s), including the stance taken (Support or Opposition). Please be advised that California regulation (law) Governmental code: 54954.3(a)(c) - allows 01/23/2025 Public Comment Item 1A the opportunity for members of the public to directly address the legislative body on any item of interest to the public. It's reasonable to consider that remarks (Public Comments) made to the legislative body would be recognized and recorded accurately within written meeting minutes of those public meetings. Please consider allowing citizens the opportunity to address (provide Public Comment) during Palm Springs City Council Open Public meetings at the time that the City Council would consider each agenda Item listed on that Public meeting posted agenda. It's NOT reasonable to have Public Comments given far in advance (offen several hours in advance of City Council's consideration) of the agenda topic being considered by the City Council. Also, it's critical that Palm Springs City officials "allow" more than the current allotted speaking time of ONLY two (2) minute time period per citizen for the "whole" (complete) City Council meeting agenda (other than Public Hearing Item(s) and Non-Agenda Public comment). Please consider the Public good over the willingness of Palm Springs City Council's attempt to censor Public testimony at their Public venues and eliminating (disenfranchise) Public partispation at Palm Springs City Council meetings. Sincerely, Brad Anderson | 37043 Ferber Dr. Rancho Mirage, CA. 92270 Cc: 47th District Assembly member 01/23/2025 Public Comment Item 1A
