I'd like to know how our leaders in our community truly feel towards the new laws. I want to encourage ourselves to be open about our beliefs and find a connection with the community they serve. I and many residents near me am opposed to the approval of any fast food chain at that area. The objections to such a business are obvious: - is not in keeping with the character of the neighborhood - would not serve the local community with healthy food options - traffic and congestion - pollution for idling cars in a drive through I enthusiastically support development of the corner of S Cerritos and Palm Canyon with neighbor appropriate business. In & Out Burger is not such a business. Thank you for your consideration. Date:Saturday, January 18, 2025 5:26:29 PM NOTICE: This message originated outside of The City of Palm Springs -- DO NOT CLICK on links or open attachments unless you are sure the content is safe. Years ago, our Council was presented with huge, big-boxprojects for the corner of Ramon and Gene Autry. Arguments for and against the projects were heard. Obviously, approvals were given; thus Lowe’s, Wal-Martand Home Depot were born. The arguments at that time, as today, were bothenvironmental and visual. The major difference, then andtoday, is that those buildings were for the immediateneeds of our citizens. The project before us now will NOTbe. The resulting behemoth will roughly be the aggregateof those three stores aforementioned. That visual isdaunting. Whereas the three stores have comparatively largeemployee lists, this project will not. Warehousing is anAI-reliant industry; actual employment would be minimal. Environmental issues are obvious. Exhaust fumes fromeven more idling trucks. Added congestion at on and offramps. Light pollution. Plus lengthening of theincreasingly unbroken, larger, taller string of warehousesfrom Los Angeles to Coachella is not inviting to once-vaunted tourists. If this is to be the new brand for Palm Springs, so be it. Just change the slogan to “Palm Springs: Where BusinessTruly Comes Before Pleasure”. Or something roughlyakin. Because that’s indeed the message you’ll besending. -- roxann ploss palm springs 01/23/2025 Public Comment Non-Agenda 01/23/2025 Public Comment Non-Agenda From:City of Palm Springs To:City Clerk Subject:*NEW SUBMISSION* Submit Public Comment to the City of Palm Springs Date:Saturday, January 18, 2025 1:53:59 PM NOTICE: This message originated outside of The City of Palm Springs -- DO NOT CLICK on links or open attachments unless you are sure the content is safe. This town needs more food options in the lower price range, and there is nothing better than In-N-Out Burger! (Always fresh and recently voted healthiest burger!) I know a concern is the back up of the drive-through, but this location provides plenty of room for that without blocking any major thoroughfares. Also they employ a lot of people starting at $20 an hour. if it is built, I will be eating there at least three times a week! We are very pleased with the idea of having an In-N-Out in Palm Springs. Please let the council know this would be a positive addition to our wonderful city.
