3 / OBSERVATION / ANALYSIS / CONCLUSION
Diagnosis resulting from walk through with arborist inspecting plant
materials and landscape conditions .
Based on the conditions observed for the palms on site, it
seems that the trees are in a dehydrated and weakened
state, which significantly impacts its success of transplant.
Here are some key points to consider in your decision:
1.
Condition Assessment: The site palm's dehydration
indicates it may not have sufficient root health or vigor
to survive a transplant. Weakened plants are at higher
risk of transplant shock and might not establish well in
a new location.
2.
Transplant Stress: Transplanting a stressed tree can
further compromise its health and survival. The stress
of uprooting can exceed the tree's ability to recover,
especially if it is already in a weakened state.
3.
Root System Evaluation: A thorough evaluation of the
root system should be conducted. If the roots are
limited or damaged due to the current condition, it may
not be feasible to provide the necessary care during
and after the transplant.
4.
Potential for Recovery: Consider whether the tree can
be rehabilitated in its current location before deciding
to move it. Implementing proper care strategies could
help improve its health over time.
5.
Replacement Options: Given the risks associated with
transplanting a dehydrated palm, recommending
replacement is a prudent option. Selecting a healthy
specimen will likely yield better long-term results and
will be less of a financial burden if the current tree fails
to thrive after transplanting.

6. Economic Considerations: Replacement of the date
palm is likely to be more cost-effective in the long
run, as it eliminates the risks associated with
transplanting a compromised tree.
In conclusion, due to the dehydrated and weakened
condition of all site palms, it is recommended not to proceed
with transplanting at this time. Instead, consider replacing
Poor condition palms (Noted on List) with a healthy
specimen to ensure optimal growth and health in the
landscape. For the rest of the site palms implement a re-
hydration program to bring these palms up to the point of
health for a successful transplanting.
