They come in many shapes and sizes, but the most common version is a small wooden box of books. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share. Little Free Library book exchanges have a unique, personal touch. There is an understanding that real people are sharing their favorite books with their community; little libraries have been called mini-town squares.” Name of Contact Person: Michelle Soto-Teall Contact Person’s Phone Number:(760) 898-2204 Contact Person’s Email Address: palmspringsmagpie@gmail.com Applicant’s information: Hi Melissa! Here are a few more specifics for our submission for Measure J funds to add 4 “Little Libraries” to the Movie Colony East neighborhood. Little Free Libraries encourage community interaction and a chance for neighbors to meet each other, chat, share and take books. A free lending library will be very useful during the Palm Springs Main Library closure for renovations, coming up soon in Spring 2025. The libraries are attractive and add value to any neighborhood. There are several different designs and mounting posts that are easy to install. I’ve attached pictures of the handful of little libraries in the Twin Palms and Racquet Club East neighborhoods. Palm Springs style has influenced these libraries! Thanks!
