HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 2B -S Connelly email - Chick Fil_Planning IssuesTo Palm Springs Planning Commission December 11, 2024 Re Item 2B REQUEST BY LILAC 19, LLC, FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR THE REDEVELOPMENT OF BUILDING ā€œIā€ AT THE SPRINGS SHOPPING CENTER TO INCLUDE THE DEMOLITION OF AN EXISTING BUILDING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A QUICK SERVICE RESTAURANT NAMED CHICK-FIL-A WITH A DRIVE-THROUGH LOCATED AT 5200 EAST RAMON ROAD, ZONE M-1-P (PDD 291) (CASE NO CUP 2024-0001)(GM). I am opposed to this project and urge you to reject it based on the potential for negative environmental impacts and noncompatible community goals. The triple lane drive through for 49 or more vehicles idling will increase greenhouse gasses with all these vehicles lined up idling. The traffic flow in this area is currently very congested and this will increase the congestion and traffic delays. The report relies on an ERS that was prepared in 2005 when this area was mostly vacant and undeveloped. The ERS needs to be updated as the air quality in Palm Springs is often deemed unhealthy by the AQMD. This is another trash fast food drive through among many others in the location and I urge you to consider the guidelines and recommendations consistent with the Blue Zone Project adopted by Palm Springs and reject this request.
