Provide a detailed description of the concept and benefits of your proposal Forever Marilyn has become a beloved attraction in the City of Palm Springs since its return in 2020, and in addition to the joy the statue brings to all who visit and are photographed with it, Forever Marilyn helps bring in essential revenue to Palm Springs businesses as well as the City of Palm Springs. In fact, cameras facing Forever Marilyn have recorded 761,693 visitors in just the past year alone. With the recent decision to move Forever Marilyn to Downtown Park, substantial costs are involved in order to make this move a reality. By assuring the funding for the move of Forever Marilyn is secured thought Measure J funds, Forever Marlyn will continue to draw residents and visitors to Downtown Palm Springs and generate revenue that will benefit the City of Palm Springs as a whole – along with its businesses and residents – by supplying funds that will support future City projects. Describe and identify any substantive discussions or endorsements you have developed with City staff, commissions, or volunteer groups to shape your proposal and to identify any potential duplication of efforts Since 2012, PS Resorts has worked hand-in-hand with the City of Palm Springs to help bring tourism to our destination. This partnership has been vital in the growth of the City and the generation of new tourism revenue. The City of Palm Springs has been involved with numerous conversations and ongoing litigation which has resulted in the need for this move. This solution comes at a great expense, however; it fosters a favorable outcome for all parties – particularly since new Measure J money will be generated to continue funding City projects in the future. Essentially, the investment of Measure J funds for this particular project will ultimately provide for additional revenue for new Measure J projects. Design/Consulting Costs $395,000 just to move the statue itself. Cost of new landscaping: $$100,000+. Lighting and camera systems moved: $80,000+.
