Our Facility was built in 1948 and was designated as a Class 1 historical building by
the City in 1999. The building is now 76 years old and needs major upgrades to
continue its daily use by the 254 veterans, 109 Sons of veterans, and the 236 wives,
daughters and spouses who LIVE in our City. In addition there are 755
veterans ,Sons and Auxiliary members who live in our Valley. Visitors with proof of
military service may visit with us during their visits. The proposed upgrades
are an absolute minimum to continue our daily operation. The Palm Springs
Preservation Foundation has surveyed the building and provided blue prints to alter
our main room back to its original structure with a lamella ceiling. This is a separate
project that can not be attempted until the building support system is upgraded.
Please see the October 2024 Palm Springs life issue where Susan Secoy Jensen
mentions
this is one of two projects she has worked on and is currently seeking funding to
get underway.
