Under ground utilities in Old Las Palmas in summary will have significant benefits to
our community. Measure J funds does enable OLPNO to expand the project to
include downtown commercial properties. Underground utility lines significantly
reduce the risk of accidents caused by downed power lines during storms, high
winds, or other extreme weather events. Traditional overhead lines are vulnerable to
being knocked down, posing hazards to residents and emergency responders.
Studies have shown that neighborhoods with underground utility lines tend to
have higher property values. Home buyers often prefer areas without visible utility
poles and wires, associating them with a more upscale and well-maintained
environment. By investing in this project, we not only enhance our quality of life
but also protect and potentially increase the value of our homes which would in
turn generate more property tax revenue.
