Short description of proposed project. Desert Arc respectfully requests a grant in the amount of $322,496 for a Measure J Community Initiated Project for its Shredding & Recycling Division. This vital funding support would afford our nonprofit human social services organization to purchase two (2) Box Trucks to meet the growing demand of Desert Arc’s customers in Palm Springs including local residents businesses, and government offices. Founded in Palm Springs in 1959, Desert Arc serves 700 people with disabilities, many of whom benefit from our vocational training and paid job programs working for our Shredding & Recycling Division. Our current Box Trucks have been in service since 2014 and 2016 and are in constant need of repair leading to potential downtimes and delays. These Box Trucks currently operate in Palm Springs 5 to 6 days a week, servicing local companies such as DAP Health, Palm Springs Disposal, Palm Springs Air Museum, LGBTQ Center, Palm Springs Art Museum, Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and more.
