REPORT OF POSTING OF AGENDA: Agenda available for public access at the City Hall exterior bulletin
board (west side of Council Chamber) by 6:00 P.M on Thursday, August 29, 2024 as required by
established policies and procedures.
ACCEPTANCE OF THE AGENDA: The Historic Site Preservation Board will discuss the order of the
agenda, may amend the order, note abstentions, and request Consent Calendar items be removed from
the consent calendar for discussion.
PUBLIC COMMENT: This time has been set aside for members of the public to address the Historic Site
Preservation Board on agenda items and items of general interest within the subject matter jurisdiction of
the Board. Although the Historic Site Preservation Board values your comments, pursuant to the Brown
Act, it generally cannot take any action on items not listed on the posted agenda. There will be three (3)
minutes assigned for each speaker. Testimony for Public Hearings will be taken at the time of the hearing.

The following routine matters may be acted upon by one motion. Individual items may be
removed by the Commission for separate discussion at this time.

Recommendation: Approval.

are considered at this time.

DESIGNATION OF “THE BURNHAM-WELLS RESIDENCE” LOCATED AT 1850 SMOKE
TREE LANE, ROCK 6, 4 LEFT (APN 510-172-001) CASE HSPB #159 (SY).
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Open the public hearing and take testimony.
2. Close the public hearing and adopt Resolution HSPB #159 “A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC
SITE PRESERVATION BOARD OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING
THAT THE CITY COUNCIL DESIGNATE “THE BURNHAM-WELLS RESIDENCE” AS A CLASS 1
HISTORIC SITE, HSPB #159, SUBJECT TO CONDITIONS (APN #510-172-001), AND A
DETERMINATION PURSUANT TO CEQA THAT THIS ACTION IS NOT A PROJECT.”

RECOMMENDATION:
1. Open the public hearing and take testimony.
2. Close the public hearing and adopt Resolution HSPB #160 “A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC
SITE PRESERVATION BOARD OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING
THAT THE CITY COUNCIL DESIGNATE “THE MERRILL LYNCH BUILDING” AS A CLASS 1
HISTORIC SITE, HSPB #160, SUBJECT TO CONDITIONS (APN #513-213-001), AND A
DETERMINATION PURSUANT TO CEQA THAT THIS ACTION IS NOT A PROJECT.”

ADJOURNMENT: The Historic Site Preservation Board will adjourn to its regularly scheduled meeting on
Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 5:30 PM, in the Large Conference Room at City Hall.
