CALL TO ORDER: Chair Kleindienst called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.

Planning Commission Member Present: Commissioner Munger
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Approval of Minutes for meeting of October 11, 2010.
ACTION: M/S/C (Kleindienst / O'Donnell, 5-0-1, abstain Parker) To approve the minutes of
October 11, 2010 with the following correction: on page two, under Agenda Item # 3 the
minutes should reflect that "Chair Kleindienst and Vice Chair O'Donnell recused themselves
`and left the chamber, member Ortega assumed the Chairmanship for this case."
REVISIONS TO AGENDA: None
PUBLIC COMMENTS: Three (3) minute time limit per person on matters within the
jurisdiction of the Architectural Advisory Committee.
There were no public comments.
AGENDA ITEM #2: 8.238 Sign Variance Amendment — Builder's Supply
Sign -A -Rama for an amendment to a sign variance to allow for additional signage at the
Builders Supply located at 490 East Sunny Dunes Road, Zone C-M, Section 23. (DN)
Associate Planner David A. Newell presented the proposed sign amendment. Mike Cox and
Darrell Veltz provided additional details on the project.
Chair Kleindienst and Member Ortega asked for clarification on the proposal. Discussion
between the Committee Members ensued.

Motion: Ortega — To recommend approval of sign variance amendment as follows:
1. Remove two main wall signs on east & west elevations on southerly
portion of building;
2. Red stucco behind main wall sign located on south elevation to be revised
to match adjacent color of building;
3.. Blade sign to be relocated above overhang on south elevation and may be
enlarged to incorporate additional company names / logo;
4. Redesigned blade sign to be reviewed by the AAC for recommendation
prior to issuance of sign permit.
Motion seconded by Kleindienst. (3-3, opposed: Kleindienst, McGrew, O'Donnell; 1
absent: Sahlin)

CHAIRMAN / COMMITTEE / STAFF COMMENTS:
Member Ortega stated that the Palm Springs Roadhouse located at 535 South Palm Canyon
Drive was before the AAC on October 11, 2010 for the replacement of a canvas canopy with
corrugated metal. This replacement has occurred and the metal appears to be very
reflective.
Principal Planner Robertson did not have any discussion items.

There being no further comments, the AAC meeting adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
