CALL TO ORDER: Chair Song called the meeting to order at 3:03 pm.
ROLL CALL:
Committee Members Present: Doczi, Rotman, Vice Chair Jakway, Chair Song
Committee Members Excused: Cassady, Lockyer, McCoy
Planning Commission Present: Dennis Woods
Staff Present: Planning Director Fagg, Associate Planner Mlaker,
Associate Planner Newell
REPORT OF THE POSTING OF AGENDA: The Agenda was available for public access
at the City Hall bulletin board (west side of Council Chamber) and the Planning
Department counter by 5:00 pm on Thursday, September 13, 2018.
ACCEPTANCE OF THE AGENDA:
Jakway, seconded by Rotman to move Item 5 to the Consent Calendar and accept the
agenda as amended.
AYES: Doczi, Rotman, Jakway, Song
ABSENT: Cassady, Lockyer, McCoy
PUBLIC COMMENTS: None.
CONSENT CALENDAR:
Rotman, seconded by Doczi to approve minutes of July 2, 2018 and Item 5 as part of the
Consent Calendar.

Minutes of July 2, 2018 approved as presented. (Minutes of June 18, 2018 were tabled
due to a lack of voting quorum.)

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
2. PINNACLE PALM SPRINGS, LLC, FOR A MAJOR ARCHITECTURAL
APPLICATION FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A 3,378-SQUARE FOOT HOUSE
ON A HILLSIDE LOT LOCATED AT 1721 PINNACLE POINT (LOT 2), ZONE PDD

ON A HILLSIDE LOT LOCATED AT 1730 PINNACLE POINT (LOT 10), ZONE
PDD 79 (CASE 3.4099 MAJ). (GM)
Member Doczi noted his abstention on Items 2, 3 and 4 due to a business -related conflict
of interest. Member Doczi left the Council Chamber at 3:23 pm.
Due to a lack of voting quorum no action can be taken at this meeting and projects will be
continued to the next meeting. Comments were accepted at this time.
Public Comments:
TOM FORD, concern about lighting, no information about down lighting, cited General
Plan regarding lighting, plantings for hillside and solar panels.
KIMBERLY TUCKER, on behalf of Pinnacle Point residents, said houses are not in
compliance with General Plan and does not fit with existing community.
MICHAEL HART, concern about lighting, landscape (white rocks) and is not compatible
with desert environment/hillside.
SCOTT LYLE, originally represented subdivision, said these will be exceptional homes
and has been working closely with the neighbors. He indicated that lighting is the same as
existing houses.

• Details of privacy wall at master bedroom/bathroom- (applicant indicated shades
would provide privacy).
• Where is trash storage? (in garage or on the side);
• Use of white rock? (will change if necessary);
Member Jakway (Lot 2) requested information and/or commented on:
• Inaccuracy between the site section- need details of retaining walls and pool fence;
• Roof plan- no indication of where water is draining;
• Are there scuppers?
• No structural details on how roof is supported on Lot 10- physically cannot be built -
will house comply with Title 24 with large expanses of glass?
Chair Song requested information and/or commented on:
• Lot 7- All glass at living room/front door- privacy concern.
• Will mechanical ducts be exposed or will it require thick roof plane- (no ductwork in
highest ceiling).
• Lot 10- Circular roof above garage slopes back to parapet; How does it relate to
other homes in neighborhood?
• Design of 12' high CMU wall at front water feature;
• Composition of roof planes is not harmonious;
• Concern about differing roof materials.
Vice Chair Jakway commented on:
• Show parapet height elevations and how roof is sloping;
• Concern about slope of driveways- may exceed slope allowed by Engineering;
• Needs details on roofing materials; if roof is exposed, should have architectural
treatment.
Member Rotman verified solar and encouraged the applicant to show the layout of where
solar will be placed.
COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS: None.
STAFF MEMBER COMMENTS: None.
ADJOURNMENT: The Architectural Advisory Committee of the City of Palm Springs will
adjourned at 4:15 pm to the next regular meeting at 3:00 pm on Monday, October 1, 2018,
City Hall, Council Chamber, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way.
