ROLL CALL: Committee Members Present: Doczi, Lockyer, McCoy, Poehlein, Walsh, Vice Chair Rotman, Chair Jakway Committee Members Excused: None. Planning Commission Present: None. Staff Present: Planning Director Fagg, Engineering Associate Minjares REPORT OF THE POSTING OF AGENDA: The Agenda was available for public access at the City Hall bulletin board (west side of Council Chamber) and the Planning Department counter by 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 28, 2019. ACCEPTANCE OF THE AGENDA: McCoy, seconded by Lockyer to accept the agenda, as presented. AYES: Doczi, Lockyer, McCoy, Poehlein, Walsh, Rotman, Jakway PUBLIC COMMENTS: None. CONSENT CALENDAR: 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: MARCH 18, 2019 McCoy, seconded by Rotman to approve minutes, as presented. AYES: Doczi, McCoy, Poehlein, Walsh, Rotman, Jakway ABSTAIN: Lockyer UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Architectural Advisory Committee Minutes City of Palm Springs April 1, 2019 2. THE COLE HOTEL LODGE, LLC FOR A MINOR ARCHITECTURAL APPLICATION TO RENOVATE AN EXISTING HOTEL, INCLUDING IMPROVEMENTS TO THE BUILDING FACADES, AN ADDITION OF 528- SQUARE FEET, AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW PARKING LOT, LOCATED AT 2323 NORTH PALM CANYON DRIVE, ZONE C-1, SECTION 3 (CASE 3.0666 MAA). (FF) Planning Director Fagg provided an update on the changes to the proposed hotel renovation as outlined in the staff memorandum. Member Doczi verified the type of paver material that will be used. Member McCoy verified that an encroachment permit for landscaping in the alley would be required- (yes). MATTHEW ROGERS, applicant, provided details pertaining to the mechanical equipment specs. and paint colors Chair Jakway verified if the windows in the lobby would remain wood frames- (yes, they will remain in a dark color). Member McCoy verified the trash enclosure wall height; and questioned if it will be covered- (yes). Chair Jakway verified the details of the art billboard. Member Doczi verified the paving material of the new parking lot. Chair Jakway verified if single trunk trees are proposed- (yes, the majority of the trees will be in the parking lot area). ARMANDO OPUS GARZA, landscape designer, described the changes made to the landscape plan. Chair Jakway questioned if the bougainvillea will grow too big for the alley location. RICK MINJARES, Engineering Associate, responded that as long as they are not encroaching past the existing power poles in the alley. Member Doczi asked if triangular plating areas could be added at the bay parking - (yes). Chair Jakway verified if roof drainage on the new addition will be accomplished. MARK NELSON, project architect, confirmed that roof drains would be installed. 2 Architectural Advisory Committee Minutes City of Palm Springs April 1, 2019 Rotman, seconded by Lockyer to approve. COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS: STAFF MEMBER COMMENTS: • New Assistant Planner Ivan Flores was introduced. • New AAC Member (Tom Jakway) appointed to Planning Commission Subcommittee to review submittal requirements; • HSPB Symposium ADJOURNMENT: The Architectural Advisory Committee of the City of Palm Spring adjourned at 3:30 pm to the next regular meeting at 3:00 pm on Monday, April 15, 2019, Large Conference Room, City Hall, 3200 East Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs.
