MINUTES
of the regularly scheduled meeting of May 20, 2024
CALL TO ORDER:
Chair Doczi called the meeting to order at 5:40 pm.
ROLL CALL:
Committee Members Present: Doczi, McCoy, Poehlein, O’Donnell, Thomas,
Thompson (Alternate)
Members Excused: Walsh
Member Absent: Fredricks
Staff Present: Ken Lyon, RA, Principal Planner, Alex Rubalcava,
Assistant Planner, Irene Cruz, Administrative Assistant
REPORT OF THE POSTING OF AGENDA: This agenda was available for public access
at the City Hall bulletin board (west side of Council Chamber) by 9:00 pm, Wednesday,
May 15, 2024, and posted on the City’s website as required by established policies and
procedures.

Motion by Thomas, seconded by Doczi, to accept the Minutes of April 15, 2024.

2.UNFINSHED BUSINESS:
2A. REQUEST BY PINNACLE PALM SPRINGS, LLC, FOR A MAJOR
ARCHITECTURAL APPLICATION FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW
4,090-SQUARE FOOT SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE ON A HILLSIDE LOT
LOCATED AT 1740 PINNACLE POINT (LOT 9), ZONE PDD 79. (CASE NOS.
3.4335 & 7.1657 AMM) (AR).
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt the resolution determining the project exempt from
CEQA and approve, subject to conditions.
Alex Rubalcava, Assistant Planner, summarized the staff report.
Reuben Fernandez, contractor for applicant, answered questions of the Committee.
Motion by Poehlein, seconded by Thomas, to approve based on the findings in the staff
report with conditions noted in Exhibit “A” and additional conditions to work with staff to
(1) further study the architecture to better unify the aesthetics of the entire home between
the main part of the house, the transition element and the garage element, (2) to consider
a more natural-looking stone veneer rather than the gridded stone on the front of the
home and (3) to add boulders to help retain the slopes between the upper level and the
garage level.

3.NEW BUSINESS: None.
COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS: Member Poehlein reported that there appears to
be significant work occurring at 1425 Via Soledad and asked staff to determine whether
the work required permits.
DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Planner Lyon mentioned the cancellation of the June 17, 2024
ARC meeting due to the joint meeting between City Council and Boards and
Commissions that evening.
He also thanked all members whose terms are ending at the end of June for their service
and noted the City would be reviewing recruitment for new committee members in the
coming months.
ADJOURNMENT: The Architectural Review Committee of the City of Palm Springs
adjourned at 6:01 p.m., to its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, June 3, 2024, at
