City of Palm Springs
413. DALE LONG OF THE WIZARD OF PAWS, LLC, FOR A
DETERMINATION THAT A PET GROOMING USE IS SIMILAR TO
OTHER USES PERMITTED IN THE LARGE-SCALE RETAIL
COMMERCIAL (C-1AA) ZONE (CASE 10.485 DET). (NK)
Associate Planner Kikuchi presented the request that a pet grooming use is consistent
with other by -right uses in the C-1AA zone.
Vice Chair Robertson, in reference to page 2 of the staff report, questioned how the
applicant was able to obtain a building permit and completed interior tenant
improvement work. Ms. Kikuchi explained the Planning Division reviewed the building
permit for an interior demolition but didn't receive the revision to the permit that included
the proposed use; and attention to this matter was brought up when the business owner
visited the permit center for their business license clearance.
DALE LONG, applicant, said he appreciates the Commission's consideration to allow
the determination of the building and is looking forward to an approval.
Commissioner Miller agreed that the use is similar to a beauty salon for a human and
wholeheartedly welcomed such a use in that shopping center.
Vice Chair Roberts concurred with Commissioner Miller and thinks this is a good use
and it's a company that is opening their second business.
Miller, seconded by Aylaian to approve the determination that a pet grooming use is
consistent with other by -right uses in the C-1AA Zone.
