SPRINGS, CALIFORNTA, ASCERTAINING AND ETERMINING THE PREVAIL`^-LING RATE OF WAGE TO DE PAID 't`'OR TI1E FOLLOWING PUBLIC IMPROVEI,AENT IN THE CITY Oil PALM SPRINGS - ASSESS14ENT DISTRICT NO. 85 WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, proceeding under the provisions of the "Improvement Act of 1911," of the Streets and Highways Code;:of the State of California, to make certain improvements in said City; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the said Code, it is mandatory upon the awarding body of any public improvement to ascertain and determine the general prevailing rates of wage in the locality in which the work is to be performed, ' for each craft- or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract , and also the general prevailing' rates 'of wage in the locality in which the work is to be performed, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract , and also the general prevailing rates for legal holidays and overtime work for each type of worlanan or mechanic NOW THEREFORE the City Council of the City of Palm Springs has ascertained and does hereby determine that the general prevailing rates of wage in the locality in which the said work described is to be )performed in said City, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic to be as follows : Classification Rates per Hour_ Air Compressor Operator 4.38 Asphalt Raker and Ironer 3.91 Cement Mason 4.60 Concrete or asphalt spreading, mechanical tamping or finishing machine operator, roller, soild, cement, asphalt finishing 5. 16 Curb form and plank setter 4.60 Driver of dump trucks (less than 4 yds water level) 4.35 Driver of dump trucks 4 yds but less than 8 yds water level 4.38 Driver of dump trucks 8 yds but less than 12 yds water level 4.43 Driverof trucks legal payload capacity less than 6 ton 4.35 Driver of trucks legal payld between 6 & 10 tons 4.38 Driver of trucks legal payld between 10 & 15 tons 4.43 Driver of transit-mix trucks 3 yP or more 4.73 Kagmen 3.70 Grade-all Operator 5.26 Heavy Duty Repairman 5. 16 Heavy Duty Repairman - helper 4.38 Laborer - general or construction 3.70 of all non-metallic pipe including sewer pipe and uada ground tile 4.01 Making & caulking of all non-metallic pipe joints 3.89 Motor Patrol Operator (any size or type)5.26 Operator & te,:der of pneumatic & electric tools, vibrating machines & similar mechanical tools, not separately classified herein 3.91 Wage Scale 8723 j Page 2 roller Operator Ccmpact.ing 4.97' oada._ - TTneei Type 3/4 yd or less4,52 Skip :.oade,. - Wheel type 3/1;. yd to l ds l" iT,Fa- jCJ'_ -eyd:2 z. J.70 Overtime shall not be less than one and one-half times the foregoing _.ate::. Foremen unless otherwise separately classified ; for carpenters, cement finishers equipment operators and operating engineers, laborers and truck drivers, shall be paid not less than $1.40 per day more, and all other foremen not separately classified not less than $1.00 per day more than the journeyman rate for the craft involved. I The above listed -rates are based upon a working day of eight , (S) hours , being proportionately applicable to eight (8) hours or lest; of employment in any one calendar day other than Saturdays, Sundays and the following seven legal holiday to-wit : New Year 's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veterans ' Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas , where any work is required in case of extraordinary emergency caused by fire, flood or danger to life or property, for any wo.:hiag time of more than eight (8) hours in any one calendar day and for time worked or Saturdays, Sundays and any of the aforementioned holidays not less than ono a",. one-half the times the specified rates shall be paid ; provided , however , that not withstanding the general provisions hereinabove set forth, the straight as specified for flagmen, guards or watchmen shall be applicable to a maximum eight (8) hours of employment per e.ilendar day, including Saturdays, Sundays d holidays, for a total or not over )rty (40) hours per week, but that not than one and one-half times such s,,=cified rates shall be paid flagmen, guard• c watchmen for any time worked in excess of eight (8) hours per day or forty. hou 40) per week: It shall be ,mandatory upon the contractor to whom the Contract is awarded, and upon the subco..fractors under him, to pay not less than the said specified rates to all laborers, workmen and mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract.
