HomeMy WebLinkAbout8627RESOLUTION NO. 8627 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, I CALIFORNIA, AWARDING THE CONTRACT IN THE MATTER OF IMPROVEMENTS IN CONNECTION WITH ASSESSMENT DISTRICT NO. 79 TO MASSEY SAND & ROCK COMPANY IN AMOUNT OF $24,463.60. WHEREAS, the City Clerk of the City of Palm Springs, California, has heretofore on the 8th day of March 1966 publicly opened, examined and publicly declared all sealed proposals or bids offered for improvements, as follows: the installation of sanitary sewers with laterals, and the con- struction of concrete curbs, gutters, driveway aprons and asphalt concrete pavement in Mel Avenue between Via Miraleste and Avenida Caballeros and those portions of Avenida Caballeros and Via Miraleste adjacent to the property fronting on Mel Avenue. City shall participate in a sum not to exceed $3,700.00 to defray cost of additional paving required. all as particularly described in Resolution of Intention No. 8568 adopted by the City Council of said City on the day of January 1966 and on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City. For further ,particulars, reference is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention, and to the plans, profiles and drawings Nos. 1072-1 to 1072-5 on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City; and all of said plans, profiles, drawings and specifications hereto- fore approved by the City Council of said City are incorporated herein and made a part hereof, and reference is hereby made thereto for a more particular description of said work. The City Council has determined and declared that the contemplated work and improvement heretofore mentioned was , in the opinion of said City Council of more than local or ordinary public benefit and the said City Council has made the expenses of said work chargeable upon said district . Said City Council has determined that serial bonds bearing interest at the rate of six percent (6%) per annum and extending over a period of nine (9) years from the 2nd day of January next succeeding the next September 1st following their date, will be issued hereunder in the manner provided by the "Improvement Act of 1911," being Part 5, Division 7 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, to represent each assessment of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) or more remain- ing unpaid for thirty (30) days after the date of recording the warrant. All of the work herein ordered shall be done and carried through in pursuance of an act of the legislature of the State of California designated the "Improvement Act of 1911," being Division 7 of the Streets and Highways Code. The City Council hereby rejects all of said proposals and bids, except the next hereinafter mentioned, and hereby awards the contract for the improvement hereinabove described, to the lowest responsible bidder, to-wit : MASSEY SAND & ROCK COMPANY At the prices named in said bid for the work on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City. Awarding Contract Page 2 The City Clerk of said City is hereby directed to cause a notice of Iawardofcontracttobepublishedinthemannerandformrequired by law by two insertions in the "iesert Sun," a daily newspaper printed, published and of general circulation in said City and here- by designated for that purpose by the City Council; and shall further record said notice of award with the Riverside County Recorder, as provided by law.
