HomeMy WebLinkAbout8569RESOLUTION NO. 8569 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, ASCERTAINING AND DETERMINING THE PREVAILING RATE OF WAGE TO BE PAID FOR THE FOLLOWING PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT IN THE CITY OF PAIM SPRINGS - ASSESSMENT DISTRICT-NO. 79 WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, proceeding under the provisions of the "Improvement Act of 1911," of the Streets and Highways Code,.of the State of California, to make certain improvements in said City; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the said Code, it is mandatory upon the awarding body of any public improvement to ascertain and determine the general prevailing rates of wage in the locality in which the work is to be performed, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract, and also the general prevailing rates of wage in the locality in which the work is to be performed, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract, and also the general prevailing rates for legal holidays and overtime work for each type of workman or mechanic NOW THEREFORE the City Council of the City of Palm Springs has ascertained and does hereby determine that the general prevailing rates of wage in the locality in which the said work described is to be ,performed in said City, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic to be as follows : Classification Rates per Hour Air Compressor Operator 4.38 Asphalt Raker & Ironer 3.81 Cement Mason 4.46 Concrete or asphalt spreading, mechanical tamping or finishing machine operator, roller soil, cement, asphalt finishing 5.16 Curb form and plank setter 4.46 Driver of dump trucks (less than 4 yds water level) 4.20 Driver of dump trucks (4 yds but less than 8 yds water level)' 4.23 Driver of dump trucks (8 yds but less than 12 yds water level) 4.28 Driver of trucks (legal payload capacity less than 6 ton) 4.20 Driver of trucks (legal payload between 6 & 10 tons) 4.23 Driver of trucks (legal payload between 10 & 15 tons) 4.28 Driver of transit-mix trucks (3 yds or more) 4.58 Flagmen 3.60 Grade-all Operator 5.26 Heavy Duty Repairman 5.16 Heavy Duty Repairman - helper 4.38 Laborer - general or construction 3.60 Layer of all non-metallic pipe including sewer pipe and underground tile 3.91 Making & caulking of all non-metallic pipe joints 3.79 Motor Patrol Operator 5.26 Operator & tender of pneumatic & electric tools, vibrating machines & similar mechanical tools, not separately classified herein 3.81 i I Stage Scale 8569 Page 2 Roller Operator Compacting 4.97 Skip Loader - Wheel Type 3/4 yd or less 5. 16 Skip Loader - Wheel type 3/4 yd to 11 yda 5.16 Water Truck Driver - under 2500 gallons 4.26 Water Truck Driver - 2500 gal to 4000 gals 4.38 Any Classification omitted herein not less than 3.60 Overtime shall not be less than one and one-half times the foregoing rates. Foremen unless otherwise separately classified, for carpenters, cement finishers, equipment operators and operating engineers, laborers and truck drivers, shall be paid not less than $1.40 per day more, and all other fore- men not separately classified not less than. $1.00 per day more than the journeyman rate for the craft involved. The above listed rates are based upon a working day of eight (8) hours, being proportionately applicable to eight (8) hours or less of employment in any one calendar day other than Saturdays, Sundays and the following seven legal . holidays, to-wit : New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July,, Labor Day, Veterans ' Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas; where any work is required in case of extraordinary emergency caused by fire, flood of danger to life or property, for any working time of more than eight (8) hours in any one calendar day and for time worked on Saturdays, Sundays and any of the aforementioned holidays not less than one and one-half times the specified rates shall be paid; pro- vided, however, that not withstanding the general provisions hereinabove set forth, the straight rates as specified for flagmen, guards or watchmen shall be applicable to a maximum of eight (8) hours of employment per calendar day, including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, for a total of not over forty (40) hours per week, but that not less than one and one-half times such specified rates shall be paid flagmen, guards or watchmen for any time worked in excess of eight (8)-hours per day or forty hours (40) per week. It shall be mandatory upon the contractor to whom the contract is awarded, and upon the subcontractors under him, to pay not less than the said specified rates to all laborers, workmen and mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract. 0- 1, Judith Sumich, Deputy City Clerk of the City of Palm Springs, California , do hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution No. 8569 was duly adopted by the City Council of said City at a meeting thereof held on the loth day of January, 1966.
