I would strongly urge the commission to not approve this application and foremost if
approved, the application should not be stripped of any conditions presently in the
application.
First of all, the HOA and OLT are presently engaged in a lawsuit to protect the 40 year old
lease on the Golf Course property. The HOA has invested nearly 10 million dollars into
this lease. I am an owner of six condos, five of which border the property. I have owned
these for as long as 12 years, and they were purchased because of the Golf Course. I am
not saying we have to have a golf course but would like to have a green space.
If this radical change is allowed we have been told by more than one Real Estate
appraiser that the condo's value would be affected negatively.
There is also a Golf Course Conversion Ordinance enacted by the city that should be
enforced. I believe it states that if a golf course, either active or inactive, is used for any
other use than a golf course the ordinance should apply.
Also, it would be nice if a change such as this was undertaken, that it should be more of
a cooperative effort.
Again, I would request that you not approve this item on the agenda.
Respectfully,
Bill White
