Dear Planning Commission members,
I am a full-time resident of the Los Compadres neighborhood in Palm Springs.
I have read the 40-page report and attachments for ITEM 4C Prescott Preserve for your July 24 meeting, and I
wholeheartedly support what Oswit Land Trust plans to do with the restoration of land into native desert
habitat.
You should know that this preserve is wildly popular with members of the community, including myself. In fact, I
have friends from Dallas, Texas, who are planning to move to Palm Springs and they told their Palm Springs-based
realtor that they want to live as close to the preserve as possible because they strongly believe in the vision for the
project as described by Oswit Land Trust.
Palm Springs can -- and should -- be a leader and example to other cities looking to transform failed golf
courses.
Palm Springs has a goal to be a “net neutral” carbon community by 2030. Well, Prescott Preserve helps us
get there.
Palm Springs wants to support public health and wellbeing of residents, and Prescott Preserve will provide
an excellent place for walking, bird watching and more.
Palm Springs needs more open space for people and for wildlife. The native species that call the Coachella
Valley home need more native desert habitat. The existing parks and preserves are not enough to meet their
survival needs as climate change continues to impact our environment.
Please support the plans of Oswit Land Trust for Prescott Preserve. This will benefit people and wildlife.
Kind regards,
Michael Taylor
