HomeMy WebLinkAboutGrava - My support for Prescott Preserve as a Nature PreserveFrom:Lars Grava To:Planning Subject:My support for Prescott Preserve as a Nature Preserve Date:Wednesday, July 24, 2024 3:37:29 AM NOTICE: This message originated outside of The City of Palm Springs -- DO NOT CLICK on links or open attachments unless you are sure the content is safe. To the representatives of the Palm Springs Planning Commission: As a full-time resident of the Los Compadres neighborhood in Palm Springs, a certified California Naturalist, regular hiker on Oswit Land Trust's Prescott Preserve, trail ambassador to assist people to follow trail rules, regular birder, and member of the debris clean-up crew on Prescott Preserve, I fully support the "REQUEST BY THE OSWIT LAND TRUST, FOR A MINOR AMENDMENT TO PLANNED DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT (PDD 153) TO ALLOW THE RESTORATION OF APPROXIMATELY 90 ACRES OF THE 120-ACRE FORMER GOLF COURSE AND COUNTRY CLUB SITE INTO A NATIVE DESERT HABITAT AND NATURE PRESERVE". This is a thoroughly researched, thoughtful submission by Oswit Land Trust. This is a unique opportunity to put Palm Springs at the forefront of California's efforts to preserve the natural environment, combat climate change, provide a beautiful space for all residents and visitors to the entire Coachella Valley including those that are mobility challenged, and educational opportunities for students and the overall community. This initiative was recognized in a front-page article in the New York Times of March 11, 2024. As an active member of the community, I feel very strongly about this issue and urge you to approve this request from Oswit Land Trust. Sincerely yours, Lars Grava lars.grava@gmail.com
