This email pertains to item 4.C. on the Planning Commission agenda for July 24,
2024, regarding the proposed minor amendment to Planned Development District 153
by Oswit Land Trust (OLT)
As you may know, I was awarded a humanitarian award by the Palm Springs Human
Rights Commission for my work, including through the Prescott Foundation, with OLT,
to facilitate OLT’s preservation plan of Prescott Preserve (previously the Mesquite
Country Club Golf Course). The time and effort spent by OLT and my own resources
in getting the City to approve this “gift” has been somewhat unbelievable. Even the
conditions of OLT’s application are frankly onerous and unnecessary; the City should
completely embrace this “gift” and the generous time and effort of OLT and use the
administrative powers vested with the Commission. Approve this application, please
and eliminate the conditions requested of OLT.
I am more than simply an owner of 2 condos in this community; I am the one who the
City honored in February for my act of generosity. Having the City use the
administrative powers it has to approve OLT’s application could have happened years
ago and would have sparked more in the community to be generous. At this point, I
ask now that the Commission approve AND whittle down the requirements imposed
on OLT so that the community will see Prescott Preserve delivered as envisioned by
OLT. The City’s approval will contribute greatly to the resolution of the litigation that is
causing a delay in the release of grant monies to OLT. So please act now and
minimize the work required by OLT.
