This email pertains to item 4.C. on the Planning Commission agenda for July 24, 2024. I
hope it is included in Planning Commissioner packets.
My name is Greg Thomas, a fulltime Palm Springs resident and owner of a condo in the
Mesquite Country Club, directly adjacent to Prescott Preserve.
Palm Springs is my adopted hometown.
I strongly encourage the Planning Commission to approve the proposed minor
amendment to Planned Development District 153 as requested by Oswit Land Trust,
subject to conditions recommended by city professional staff.
As a member of MCC Homeowners Association, I know many seasonal and full-time
MCC residents are strident supporters of Oswit Land Trust and its mission to protect
habitats and maintain public access to natural lands.
I support OLT's efforts for the ecological restoration of the former MCC golf course. It
just makes sense. It's in alignment with the city's general plan and proposed zoning map
changes. It respects market forces affecting golf locally, and protects the environment.
It meets the needs of Palm Springs residents for natural open space, regardless of socio-
econominc status.
I and many of my MCC neighbors think Prescott Preserve will not only benefit our HOA's
property values, but provide broad social, educational and environmental benefits for
the entire Palm Springs community.
