Hello, We are homeowners of a condo at Mesquite Country Club in 2001. We were notified that OLT/ Prescott Preserve is on the 7/24 agenda. The Planning Commission should not consider permitting the Preserve “in July when most people are not in town.” Words in quotation marks were written by Jane Garrison when she asked people to contact the City about a July agenda item she was opposed to. Attending by Zoom/phone does not have the same impact as in person. Why the sudden rush that requires it be heard in July with no funds? It may have been the Planning Commission behind the decision that project is a landscape modification rather than a Golf Course Conversion. We still object to that decision. Attached is the report the Planning Dept. submitted to the Commission. There are numerous factual errors. Such as the golf course being closed for 3 years, it omits that Oswit required the golf course be closed as a condition of sale, and it has incorrect dates such as date Oswit took possession. In my humble opinion this is a continuation of Oswit's false narrative to the public, the WCB and now the City, that it rescued all of us from a failed, closed, defunct golf course. That it had no part in closing the course. Also attached is the agenda with instructions on how to attend or how to communicate with the Commission. The Chair, Kathy Weremiuk, has been adamant that the Preserve is just a landscape modification, not a Golf Course Conversion Ordinance. Online searches show she is a very pro- coyote advocate. This is a travesty and will be a black eye for the City of Palm Springs! OLT/Prescott Preserve should not be considered at all. See attached documents.
