I have forwarded your public comments to the Airport Commission and Executive Director Harry Barrett. To learn more about the Airport’s Master Plan process and outreach, I would recommend attending the Master Plan kick-off meeting tomorrow. I have attached the agenda, and you can attend in-person or on Zoom. Regards, Christina BrownExecutive Administrative AssistantPalm Springs International Airport3400 E. The Palm Springs Airport is an obsolete, moribund relic of its past glory. Started as an Army Airfield eons ago it has been passed by. The City struggles to keep it open for no apparent reason. This facility cannot be expanded in any practical way to meet the ballooning needs of the Coachella Valley. No runways or gates can be added. Its only runway cannot be lengthened. The terminal areas cannot be made larger. So, what is this 30-month long study going to suggest? Nothing of any consequence. It is like putting lipstick on a pig. I suggest you petition the FAA to change the airport code from PSP to PLP (Putting Lipstick on a Pig). What should this study group be examing? The feasibility of closing the Palm Springs Airport and constructing a much better airport to serve the travel needs of the Valley. If the Valley did not have an airport now, Palm Springs would be the last place to receive consideration. Just imagine what better uses the City could do with the land wasted on a dinosaur airport facility? The City cries for additional housing units, especially more affordable housing. This group should drop its parochial, short-sighted vision and look to the future, not the past. Joseph Massaro 562 Skylar Lane Palm Springs.
